What is recovery time for laparotomy to remove a dermoid cyst?

Anyone have personal experience in recovery time from a laparotomy? It is for removal of a large dermoid ovarian cyst. Doctor is predicting 6 weeks off work, but I’m hoping it won’t take that long! Laparoscopy isn’t an option unfortunately.

    6 weeks sounds reasonable. You might be able to go back after 4 weeks if you have a desk job.
