Ovarian Cyst, pain pain pain!!?
I went to the ER and they gave me morphine intraveneously (sp?) and that worked well for the pain. they sent me home with a week’s worth of lortab and that did nothing for me but make me sicker and feel worse than i had before! i am going to maybe have a laprascopy surgery to remove a large complex left ovarian cyst very soon and want the doctor to prescribe me an oral dosage of morphine as my pills to take home afterwards. i know it is strong but i know that it actually works…can i rightfully tell him what pain killer i want though? i feel as though i sound like a druggy when telling him that but i don’t want pain after being under the knife…. can he say no?
thanks!! ![]()
if you are in a lot of pain your doctor needs to know that
it could mean you are on the wrong meds, dose or even that there is something else going on
as for telling the doc what you want….that’s a great question
hopefully your doc will listen to you and find the best solution, as ultimately i think that’s what you really want
i hope you get this sorted out soon
ouch!
Ovarian cysts can be and are usually very painful.
There is no oral Morphine. Even if there was you couldn’t find a doctor in this country who’d prescribe it for you. It is a potent pain killer and no one wants to order it. They give it to you in a hospital setting, intravenously, under controlled environment.
You can, however, ask him for something stronger than Lortab to hold you up until your surgery. Tylenol III has codeine and that may be helpful, but you have to check with your doc.
i have a cyst to, mine is the same size as my uterus and sits on top of it. im always in a lot of pain with it, my doctor wont even mess with it or give any meds for the pain! i don’t believe that they have morphine in a pill form, but they do have demoral ( sorry im not sure how to spell it) but it is a good one for pain=)
