Using birth control to cure ovarian cyst..did it work work for you?

i was recently told that I have a cyst. My doctor told me that the birth control pills should make it go away. I am really worried that the cyst will not go away and it will affect my chances of having a child. I would like to hear from other woman as to if this method was successful or not. Thanks!
The birth control pills supress ovulation and the hormones help the body consume the cyst. With the supression of ovulation, you should not ovulate and have another ovarian cyst. Of course, with the pills you probuly won’t get pregnant, but it shouldn’t decrease your chance in the future.
I am sure your doctor will monitor you, and watch the size of the cyst. When it gets to a certain size, they will have to take it out. Although most of the time, when caught early enough to treat with birth control pills, the pills work and the cyst will go away.
Good luck.
Never heard a Dr tell U that I had 2 have mine removed no meds 4 it I was told
It worked for me. I was diagnosed when i was 14 and i’m now 24 and just fine. haven’t had any problems since. It also depends on the size of the cyst
You may have polycystic ovaries. My mom had it and she had two children. Birthcontrol pills do work but try doing some reasearch on the internet. Look below in the source box for a good website(s). You could also go into a "doc in the box" for a second opinion. Most likely there are other options for this problem other than birthcontrol pills.
I can’t say that’s worked for me. I’ve been on BC pills for years and I’ve had two already (in a 5-6 year span), one in the cervix and the other in an ovary. I’m currently going through a bunch of tests for some sever pain I’ve been having. Just did all the ultrasounds today and won’t know until Monday, but it could be several different things, one of which is another cyst. So make sure you find out all you can. Good luck!
