Can Ovarian Cysts be dangerous?
For the last 7 years I have had problems with Ovarian Cysts on my right ovary. I have multiple other symptoms as well such as dandruff, hair loss, weight gain in the abdomen, depression, insomnia, hot flashes, spotting after orgasm/intercourse/exercise, extreme thirst and urination, and dark patches on my knees, ankles, and wrists.
I had my hormones tested and a blood sugar test and everything came back fine. So, they sent me away.
Now the last few days I have had extreme pelvic pain, a very sore right ovary, a twisting shooting pain down my right leg, mixed bright red/dark brown spotting, and this intense pressure pressing down on my uterus or cervix.
I know it is another Ovarian Cyst because it felt just like this the previous times that I have had them. I’m just worried about the amount of pain that I am having.
Could these cysts be dangerous if they twist or rupture? Is there something I should be looking out for? And last but definitely not least, does anyone know of a way that I can relieve some of this pain?
Thanks!
they r not dangerous.relax.lots of women have them.there are natural remedies for them.and homoeopathy would be safe and it works.u need to change ur diet-eat more raw foods, drink 4/5 litres water daily, exercise, enjoy being a women and accept all aspects related to ur sexuality.surf the net -theres plenty information out there.
Yes some can be dangerous…you need to get them removed sometimes doctors advise to get a hysterectomy meaning they have to take your ovaries and uterus out… go to your doctor get some advise
Yes… its very bad. You may lose your ovary and not gain children. You can go to the hospital and ask your doctor to remove the cyst(s). But it may cost a lot.
it can lead to cancer. i would remove them asap.
im not a doctor so i cant say if its dangerous but i am a recent college student studying to be a nurse…ovarian cyst can be treated…so you should tell your doctors about your situation…ovarian cysts can promote weight gain…so im not sure but talk to your doctor….
Please don’t panic.
Ovarian cysts are extremely common in women. I was diagnosed with one for the first time a few months ago. I did not require surgery and the doctor was able to treat the cyst by prescribing birth control pills to shrink it.
Not every ovarian cyst requires surgery. And they are rarely cancerous.
Do not listen to anyone who tells you that if an ovarian cyst goes untreated that it can lead to cancer. That is a ridiculous and ignorant response. And I am amazed at the stupidity that some people will post here in order to receive 2 lousy points.
Yes, cysts can be dangerous if they rupture. But you are jumping ahead of yourself. Call your OB/GYN and let him/her know what you are feeling.
They will likely send you for an ultrasound to determine if in fact, there is an ovarian cyst present.
Take care of yourself, don’t panic and I wish you well.
Well if u’ve had them 4 7 years you should know they are.
SW is right. I am not a doctor, nurse or other medical person. I did have an ovarian cyst and read everything I could find (which was not easy – the info is scattered and redundant).
But the research consistently shows that the link between ovarian cysts and cancer is extremely weak. SW is right: you see this idea all over the Internet. Even doctors sometimes parrot the lines, “A cyst (especially in a post-menopausal woman) can be cancerous.”
But I could not find any research to support this claim. I did find some articles that women can download to show their doctors, if they’re faced with this claim. There may be some new research out there that I don’t know about.
