Birth Control can help reduce size of ovarian cyst?

I was diagnosed with a cyst on my left ovary and my doctor informed me that if i was interested in taking birth control to help reduce the size? Has anyone ever did this? Does it really work?
my sister has an ovarain cyst she is 16 and has beenon birth control for 2 years now, she was diagnosed with this a few months ago and her doc told her the only way to get rid of it was wehen she gave birth that not even surgery would help her out. poor you im sry if yours is anything like hers i hope the best for you and maybe you should consult another obgyn or call ask a nurse. good luck sweetie xoxo
I’m not sure if it helps to reduce the size of the cyst, but it does help regulate the hormones that effect the ovaries.
I had an ovarian cyst and the doctor didn’t suggest me of anything like taking birth control instead one of my ovaries was removed.
Yes! It worked great for me!!! I had two cyst’s that had to be surgically removed (so not a big deal! so don’t worry if you have to have yours removed!) and since I have been on the pill for the past 10 years have not ever had another one!! Try it and see if it will work for you. What do you have to lose but a cyst?
yes I had 2 and I started taking birthcontrol pills and they where gone no more pain, what makes you get cysts is ovulation and when your on the pill you dont ovulate.
