Almost a little under a year ago I went off Seasonale, I have gone from 155 to 135 since then. Over these few months I have increased my running and eatten fewer calories. My doctors think I have ovarian cyst and keep asking me to go on birth control pills again to help with the cyst. Should I break down and go on birth control again? I sure do like being thin, and I’m really scared to gain the weight back. Right now I’m really upset because I can barely walk so I def. cannot go running . . . so either way it’s a lose lose situation. Has anyone gone on birth controls with lower weight gain? Does Yasmin work well?? or the Nuvaring? Please let me know your experience with bc and weight . . .
Thanks
Let me clarify, I can barely walk because the cyst are causing me exteme amount of pain . . .
but being a size four is so much fun!
. . . also, I have no had a period since Nov (I’m not pregnant) and I’m anemic

I have had an ovarian cyst for a few months now. It is a corpus luteal cyst. I am having alot of sharp pains on that side and fullness. also there is a little sweling. I no longer have insurance so I can’t just go to the doctor anyomre. Should I be worried about it or is something normal?

that might sound like a dumb question but with my first child i dont remember what it was like when i first got pregnant..mainly because i didnt know untill i was two months..anyway..my mom said with her second she had MAJOR cramping. she said it was hard for her to walk..and i had the same thing happen to me this morning. well i had a rather large ovarian cyst when i was about 13 (now 20) that went away with birth control pills but i decided to look up ruptured ovarian cysts and these are the syptoms the website listed…
Dull aching, or severe, sudden, and sharp pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen (one or both sides), pelvis, vagina, lower back, or thighs; pain may be constant or intermittent — this is the most common symptom
Fullness, heaviness, pressure, swelling, or bloating in the abdomen
Breast tenderness
Pain during or shortly after beginning or end of menstrual period.
Irregular periods, or abnormal uterine bleeding or spotting
Change in frequency or ease of urination (such as inability to fully empty the bladder), or difficulty with bowel movements due to pressure on adjacent pelvic anatomy
Weight gain
Nausea or vomiting
Fatigue
Increased level of hair growth
Increased facial hair or body hair
Headaches
Strange pains in ribs, which feel muscular
Bloating
Strange nodules that feel like bruises under the layer of skin
Feeling of lumps on the lower abdomen
there is a very high chance that i could be pregnant but i just dont know..

It hurts so bad. I dont know of anything to help. It hurts when I walk, when I sit…all of the time…
I have been to the doctor before and she gave me birth control and said it would help. I still get them but not as often and when I do, like the one I have now, it is terrible. It feels like a metal rod is being shoved behind my hip bone. Ouch!

I had an cyst on my right ovary. I am now on BC. this passing monday I had started to feel really sharp pains in my back and sides. So I asked for an ultrasound. When I went the doctor she said that it was gone. She said it may have went away on it own. But I still feel pains. they are not severe to the point where i can’t take it but more like aches of pain. In my sides and in my back. I also get this odd feeling pain in my stomach when I lay on my stomach. What do you think it could be? My last cyst ruptured and the pain was unbearable.

I haven’t had my period since May 25th, and for the past three months I’ve been told assume that I’m pregnant until confirmed otherwise. I’ve had no confirmations at all, and just today I was just told by my pathetic excuse of a doctor, that weight gain, food aversion, smell aversion, increased appetite, heavy achey breasts, ance breakouts, constepation, hot and cold flashes, mood swings, bloating, and no period are all causes of PCOS and/or an ovarian cyst.
Is this true?
I haven’t had any pain or discomfort in my pelvic region, nor do I have any unusual raised areas where a cyst could be, so to me these are pregnancy symptoms. I’ve had normal and regular periods for 10 years now, not missing one.
I know that PCOS and ovarian cysts cannot develop overnight, or even within a week. There’s just no way. My GYNO doctor would have detected any abnormalites when I had my annual pap towards the end of May.
Can anyone give me some detailed information (if you or a family member went though it) on these conditions, and other possible symptoms?
I’ve seen a doctor 3 times within the last 2 months, and all all 3 visits (including today) I was told to just continue on thinking that I’m pregnant. My temp. doctor now just wants to give me a shot of progesterone to induce a period and restart my period…(without even checking to see if I’m pregnant or not).
Since I’m military (spouse), I cannot switch doctors. I have to be referred.
I did take a test. The period I missed was supposed to be June 22. I took a HPT 4 days later. Negative.

Can you still give birth if you have ovarian cysts? I recently found out that I have ovarian cysts, I have pain in my abdomen alot I just experienced 1 rupturing yesterday. I know birth control is a way to prevent cysts, but I would like to have a child.

I am freaking out, and crying too because you can not bear children, I have the irregular periods [sometimes they for a week but only for half of each day] and i have the acne [runs in family though] and sleep apnea because i sometimes just quit breathing when i am trying to go to sleep….and i do got all the increased hair on me but its not on the neck. and i used to have depression. i am pretty tiny though.
do u think i can have it?!
Not all women with PCOS share the same symptoms. These are some of the symptoms of PCOS:
* infrequent menstrual periods, no menstrual periods, and/or irregular bleeding
* infertility (not able to get pregnant) because of not ovulating
* increased hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes—a condition called hirsutism (HER-suh-tiz-um)
* ovarian cysts
* acne, oily skin, or dandruff
* weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist
* insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
* high cholesterol
* high blood pressure
* male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
* patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs
* skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area
* pelvic pain
* anxiety or depression due to appearance and/or infertility
* sleep apnea—excessive snoring and times when breathing stops while asleep
please help i am totally bummed out

I have some tenderness on my right side, about above my hip and kind of behind my hip bone. I noticed it recently. I have been diagnosed with a cyst on my left ovary. I have read that you can feel discomfort during ovulation. Is that what this is?

Here’s the rundown to the point. My last period was Mar 10, 09. lasted the norm 4 to 5 days. It was due April 15, 09 and never showed. I took a pregnancy test a week after period was due, it was negative. Ive been having mild to sharp pains in my abdomen since 5 days before my expected period. It has been constant also accomodated with lower back pain, frequent urination, and pains in my breast. Ive been checked for endometriosis and ive had my thyroid checked, both test were fine. I have not gained weight nor been stressed. I usually have my cycle every 36 days. Ok I started bleeding 2 days ago which is 15 days past my expected period and it has stopped today. It was not a normal period. I only used a total of 4 pads within the two days. Im still having the abdominal pain and sharp breast pain. I also went to ER last night because of the bleeding and pain. They did a hpt and it was negative. The also did a pelvic exam which they say is normal for someone who was bleeding. Gave me some naproxin and sent me home and gave me numbers for gyno doctors. Its sat so unfortunatly there all closed. I guess its so frustrating because I have been regular for the past 2 yrs straight. Usually my bf and I use condoms or the pull out method but the one month we decide to use no form of birth control this happens. After my last period 3/10 we started having sex with him ejaculating inside me sometimes more than twice a week. And now this! Whats happening to my body?

i found out last friday i had a cyst, i have had two weeks of pain and pg symptoms, turns out it was from the cyst. pain started sat night and went into early sunday morning. the pain was sharp side pains, and pinching pain in my ovaries. it got really bad and i was doubled over in pain crying and then it would settle down and get bad all over again. well then i got charley horse cramping in my abodmen and i was on the ground in tears and in fetal position i scared my roommate because i was crying and screaming kind of. so i went to the er,after a bunch of tests which showed nothing (they didnt do an ultra sound since i already had one which showed a cyst) she did a pelvic,i still had pain on the right side, when she pushed down it sent shooting charley horse pains up my side, it was determined that it had ruptured. im still getting sharp side pains,with some pinching pain. not nearly as bad, but still hurts, how long until it goes away? they said 2 days. never had this happen before.
when i went in the er there wasnt any bleeding, it said in my report (i work in the hosp and can get this) that i had calcifications in my pelvic area and had phleboliths which are like small blood clots, so i wonder if that is from the cyst. but the pain is still really bad. its all on the right side unless it is very heavy menstrual cramps. and its all that pinching pain and up the side of my right side and sometimes my back has the knife like stabbing pains up it too. er said they really couldnt do anything. the cyst ruptured here at my house, i didnt want to go sit in there for 8 hours espcially when i knew it was gonna rupture. this is day 4 after it happened early sunday morning. it was so intense yesterday at work i was in tears. i will make any apt with a gyne soon, but i cant handle another pelvic exam again right now. i guess maybe its because of the fluid or something in my body. i dont get the problems breathing at all. god i want my life to be normal again! thanks everyone

For the past week or so I have had this dull aching pain in my lower abdomen and lower back, it hurts really bad when I try to "bear" down in my lower abdomen it kind of feels like a pulled muscle? Also, during intercourse (usually the deepest) I get this stabbing pain but it only last a second like I have hit something in there. I have bad cramps when I get my period but thats normal along with the flow. I have had this pain on and off for almost two years now coming and going. I have been to the doctor and they have never mentioned anything about a cyst. A couple months ago I thought I was pregnant but never could get a positive test result but I, gained weight, had sore breast, sensitive smell and taste, swollen stomach,blue veins, and irregular spotting periods and then a super heavy flow with massive tissue came so I thought I had a miscarriage. But reading some answers on here sounds exactly what I have. If anyone has any info I would really appreciate your input. Thanks!

To make a long story short I was experiencing extreme stomache problems recently and my docotr refered me to a Gastronologist. In turn he sent me to have a CT done on top of blood work and fecal x3. They were looking for parrasites or colitus. I got a call about my CT and they informed me that I have ovarian cysts. Which may have actually explained a lot of prior ailments I have experienced over the past couple of years ( I’m 21 now ) They at one point thought I had appendicitis and could not turn up anything when they sent me to the hospital so they sent me home. I have the same pain on the same side STILL I have my period ( or just bleeding ) 75-80 % of the month and pain in the back of my legs and stomache area. ( this has been going on for about 3 years now )I haven’t really gained much weight nor can I eat much, but my stomache is still growing larger and I constanly feel nauseas and tired. I’m worried about the "c" word a little bit even though it is a bit more rare. On both side of my family both sides have had a very bad track record for the "c" word. My dads mom had polups, my dad’s sister has uterine cancer AND ovarian cancer. My mom has polycystic ovaries and her sister had ovarian cancer and had to remove everythng giving her a severe hormonal imbalance ( which eventually led to her suicide ). My mom’s brother was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer as well. I am of Irish and Armenian Decent if that helps. My question is what do you think the gyno will do or suggest when I go to see them? I’ve been on birth control to no avail. And I am currently not sexually active because of the pain I have from intercourse. Please help me answer this to the best of your ability. Thanks.
I am not worrying myself to death over it being the "c" word. like I said in the text I know it is rare for someone my age to suffer from ovarian cancer . I simply stated that many of my family members 1st and secondly have had cancer in such regions which would make me more subseptible to it. And I know that genetics plays a big role in such matters. Would you have prefered if I spared that information? Which wold lead to a less valid set of info to base your response off of. I already know that I have multiple cysts. The CT scan showed that. I just wonder how long I have had them if I have felt like this for 3 years now and why they didn’t find it sooner considering that they check for my appendix with a scan and was having the same pain at the time in the same spot. If I’m worried about anything it would be them cutting me open to take it out, the risk of not being able to bear children later on, or the cysts rupturing. Thats all.
