Ovarian cyst? Ovulation pain? What is it?
I have some tenderness on my right side, about above my hip and kind of behind my hip bone. I noticed it recently. I have been diagnosed with a cyst on my left ovary. I have read that you can feel discomfort during ovulation. Is that what this is?
I had one of those! Not fun! But heres the thing, when you are "diagnosed" with an ovarian cyst they tell you to get an ultra-sound, the ultra-sound will show the Doctor whether or not it is a cyst you have to worry about. Basically, they will tell you whether it is cancerous or not. Since you are saying you are having discomfort during your period I am assuming that you have already had an ultra-sound, in which case… yes, you will feel some discomfort as the cyst is naturally passing during your period. However, if you are feeling excessive pain call your doctor! Also, (and this is important) you have to go back to the doctor after your period for a pelvic exam so that the doctor can make sure the cyst passed on its own. If it didnt they may have to surgically remove it. You know your body best, if the cramping feels too intense call your doc. and make sure to get a follow up exam.
