Has anybody switched to YAZ from Yasmin 28s & gained weight?

They are supposed to be the same compound medication. I have been on Yasmin 28s since I was 15 for ovarian cysts… and then the later, sex of course.

I switched to YAZ because the pill pack has more pills, and we all know what that means– shorter periods– so why not make the switch… I just phoned my doctor and she didnt ask any questions, and made the switch at the pharmacy.

So I have been taking it for almost 5 months now and have gained weight too… but thought it was due to the holidays and usually I do gain a couple pounds but lose them effortlessly in the springtime.

Ive been busting my ass at the gym since Mid-January … I mean SWEATING and doing cardio for 30 minutes, then weights, then ab machines, and the whole lot.

I am a former varsity water polo player and swimmer (entire life).

I am 5’7, and now 150 lbs.I was 130 for 5 years, and while taking Yasmin, never gained weight.

I cannot seem to lose this weight. Could it be from the pill, even though its the same?

Yaz has less hormone than Yasmin. Weight gain is not even a true side effect for most birth control pills. Yaz lists slight weight gain, aka less than 5-10%.
    You’ve just gained the weight.

Yasmin will probably go generic shortly because the law suit which was preventing its introduction was ruled in the favor of the generic company.

Yes, this could be from the change in birth control pill formulations but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
