Ovarian Cyst: Have you ever had an ovarian cyst that caused pain in your abdomen?
I have had pain, sometimes intense, sometimes mild achy pain, since 2/19/09. I went to the Immediate Care Center on Saturday and they thought it could be my appendix since it was on my right side. They did a CT scan and said I had an Ovarian Cyst (4.3cm in diameter) & it hurts like hell. I went to my OB/GYN on Monday and they said it would go away on its own & prescribed pain meds. They told me if I was still hurting in a few days to come back. I went back 5 days later & they again told me it would have to rupture on its own & prescribed me more pain meds. They told me to take 2 (7.5) Lortabs at a time & to keep them in my system until it ruptures. How long can this take? I really don’t want to keep taking this much pain medicine because it makes me nausous. I really don’t know what else to do & I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?!?! Any suggestions would help.
Hello,
A few years ago I was in agony and no one had a clue why.
I had all kinds of tests that found nothing.
Doctors would prescribe pain meds but the pain kept coming back with a vengence.
Finally my doctor decided exploratory surgery was necessary.
They found a tennis ball sized cyst that wrapped around my fallopian tube 14 times.
I would of went crazy with the pain if they made me wait for something to rupture.
My pain lasted for 6 months before I was taken to surgery.
I was only in pain 2 weeks before my period but it was horrendous.
The bouts lasted for 3-4 days and I could do nothing but weep.
My advice to you is to discuss surgical removal or an exploratory.
Discuss with your doctor the threat of relying on pain medicine.
I have heard many people having to wait for cyst to rupture but for the love of God that is torture!
I know how intense the pain is and my heart goes out to you!
I hope you get the relief you so very much need
The cyst may have reptured to that can be quite painful especially if the fluid dosent get absorbed back into the body it can cause infection. I hate ovarian cyst and most of the time doctors are quick to just say oh it will go away. If you are in that much pain you need to talk to the doctor about other options or go back to the er and get checked out again.
