Is brief but severe ovarian pain typical of ovulation?

My last period was on June 24. I have cysts on my ovaries, so I do usually experience some pain with ovulation, but last night’s pain was excruciating. My boyfriend and I had sex, and during the act I experienced pressure around both ovaries. Later on, at around 3 or 4 in the morning the pain in my right ovary woke me up; it felt like constant pressure and was extremely uncomfortable.
Is pain during sex and hours afterward (during ovulation?) normal for women with ovarian cysts?
Some pain is normal for ovarian cysts but not "excruciating" pain. You should make an appt to see your doctor and talk with him/her about this especially if the pain continues.
