What kind of Dr.Should I go to?
A bit of history on me. I have had an eating disorder for ten yrs(anorexia purging type)For the past two summers I have had ovarian cysts removed. I’m starting to get symptoms again but some of them don’t mesh. After my surgery last yr my weight went up even though I’m restricting. My nutritionist doesn’t think this makes sense. I’ve had lower back pain, achy pains, weight gain, constipation, nasea etc, drinking and peeing alot. I also know that I was born with 1 kidney so maybe it has something to do with that. I’ve never got that checked out. I went to a gastro dr and he said it was probably ibs but things have gotten worse. Should I go back to gyno office even though I’ve had two scans since feb but the pain is intense? My friend suggested endocronoligist, I was think may I should go see a nephrologist(kidney doc) ?
I’d start w/ your gyno again, he/she can document your symptoms & track what’s going on…. maybe you need another ultrasound, that can tell you a lot of what’s going on inside, either ovarian, or in your bladder. also ask for some blood tests. your gyno can refer you to an endocrinologist if needed, but you need that doc to be the one to start the ball rolling & then the 2 of them can keep in contact w/ each other.
Damn you have alot of the same things I do…I have a kidney disorder… I’d type it out for you but I believe its 16 letters long and I can’t even pronounce it lol. Basically my disorder is my kidney’s don’t filter right so I have too much protein in my urine and now since its gotten worse its too much protein and now blood (but not visable blood).
As for the ovarian cysts… I would see either your family doctor about that or your gyno, whichever it is you go to.
As for lower back pain, that can be cause by ALOT of things… that you are going to have to pinpoint on your own. If it’s severe pain all the time… I would suggest going to a physiotherapist. If I lift things wrong, my pevlic bone ends up getting pushed in as well as the bottom of my spine and I have unbearable back pain, which a physiotherapist can fix 100% within a month. But like I said, you’re going to have to pinpoint that yourself.
Weight gain? Hmm, are you on any medications that may cause weight gain? Are you eating differently? Or maybe have you done something to slow down your metabolism?
Contipation… could be IBS. The kick in the ass about that is doctor’s can’t actually diagnose you with IBS. I’ve wondered if I have this, but the oppisite..diarreah. And even if they think it is IBS… they can only put you on medication temporarly. Which sucks even more. I would just suggest you add more fibre to your diet, that should help. And when you do get constipated, drink prune juice. The nausea could be tied in with the IBS.. I don’t know, I’m not a doctor, it’s just an idea. I don’t know if you know or not but bowel problems can be caused by eating disorders, so considering you were anorexic, that’s probably why. Not eating right has a very negative effect in that area.
As for the drinking and peeing alot… I would go get checked out to make sure you’re not diabetic. Again though, this could be caused by certain medications.
Definitly go see your gyno. And a nephrologist will be able to tell you if there’s anything going on with your kidney’s.
*When I was looking up bowel problem disorders I actually came across one that mentioned bowel problems linked to kindey disorders. I’m sorry I cannot remember which one, but if you see a nephro definitly mention it.
