anyone else have this trouble from taking birth control pills?
I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts a few years ago and since then, my gyno has been attempting to treat them with birth control pills. However, I have a bad reaction to each pill.
The first (I can’t remember the name of that one) caused me to gain tons of weight and I was nauseous the entire time.
Next, she tried me on ortho, and I was having severe "pregnancy" symptoms without being pregnant. Everything from morning sickness to heightened sensitivity to smells and weight gain, yet again.
Finally, I just recently tried yaz. Again, with the weight gain AND I bled for 17 days out of the first month. I felt lethargic the entire time.
Has anyone else had such trouble with birth control pills?
My mother was allergic to something they put in various forms of birth control pills and had similar problems to yours. It was just some sort of allergy for her and they didn’t have alot of different things they could use back then so she just didn’t take the pills anymore. Now has three grown beautiful children.
My sister has a similar problem with taking the birth control pills and has ovarian cysts, all the symptoms like you describe above. She went on depo-provera shots and didn’t have the problems except for the weight gain for the first few months and then she got "back to normal".
Maybe all this is a suggestion to move to a different form of the birth control, they have what feels like a billion new products, I suggest talking to your gynocologist about a different form of control other than your pills, some people just cannot take them like my sister and you seem to have her problems so I recommend finding out about the many different forms and trying some of those out. Most are as effective if not more effective than the pill. Hope this helps!
no not me at all. i know that its a higher dosage depending on your weight.
I had the same problem and know how you feel. But unfortunately I ended up having a hysterectomy to solve the problem.Good luck I hope it all works out for you.
I had these issues. Find out if you are suffering from PCOS Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. If so seek the professional help of a reproductive Endocrinologist. I found the only pill that worked for me was one with progesterone in it. Lo Overal. Best wishes with this issue. Sometimes a support group is helpful. I no longer have the cysts as I recently underwent a total hysterectomy. Be sure to go for regular checkups and not to neglect your health.
I’m on yasmin and from what I’ve heard, it has the least side effects.
I have heard of people putting on weight due to the pill, but I haven’t heard of bleeding for 17days. Blood contains iron, which keeps you awake and less tired, so if you lost a fair bit of blood in that month it could be the reason as to why you were lethargic.
In the packet which contains the pill, there should be a pamphlet which will list the possible side effects, it might be a good idea to read that pamphlet to make sure the signs and symptoms you have are a result of the pill or some other physiological complication (hopefully its the pill).
