This was really an interesting read, because I think all of us suspected this. None of these companies have expert reviews or scientific studies behind them - it's just companies pumping out hormones into drinks and selling them. Melatonin? Since when was relaxing the same as falling asleep? Really? Sleeping should never be equated the same as falling asleep. I used Ichill and just got knocked out. Great, so much for relaxing and doing my work? I tried this thing called Mini Chill, and first of all it has NO Melatonin! And yes, it's a relaxation drink among relaxation drinks. I wish I could hear what the article writer would have to say about Mini Chill. It's backed by a peer-reviewed scientific study and was formulated by a doctor.

I'm kind of small. I'm 5'1" and about 100 lbs. I got prescribed BC for endometriosis. At first, I got really sick, so the doctor prescribed a lower dosage and I have had no side effects. A couple of zits here and there, but everything else is normal. No weight gain, no boob gain, no dry hair or anything. If you're too worried, you can ask your doctor to give you a lower dose of the pill. I have had absolutely no problems while taking it, but I do have some cramping around my period. Good luck!

Almost same situation and yes, if I were you I would start taking it. I was on Yaz and never gained weight (granted each of us are different) and I switched to the shot and gained almost 60 pounds. Yaz is the only one I have found that keeps my hair from being greasy and my acne (I have never really had acne, but what few pimples I did get I don't get anymore) from getting bad. I have only had 2 pimples since I have been on Yaz again for almost a year. I had the same problem about getting acne elsewhere and Yaz took care of it!

When i was 23 i started getting awful massive acne under my skin, very painful&very embarrassing! Along with the oily hair&skin too. I was given birth control which was called Dianette-it worked wonders for me. I was not so much anti-birth control, i just didnt need it as i cant concieve naturally. 7 years later i still take the pill as when i came off it the problems came back. Id stay on it if i were you& as for the 'side effects' theyre negligable&wont occur if you're on the right pill for you. Im 5'9, 132lbs &a C cup, pretty normal i think:)

You could always try the pill for a few months and if you don't like it, stop taking it. I've taken bc before and never had migraines or grew larger breasts. Birth control has come a long way and these are side effects that only some women still have. The scarier side effects of the pill are blood clots and strokes and I would be way more concerned/cautious about that, however these are also rare. With any medication there are risks. Be smart about it and keep an eye on your body for unwelcomed changes. Like I said, try the pill and if it doesn't work for you after a few months, stop taking it. It's worth a shot I'd say. Best wishes.

First of all, magnesium has been shown to help migraines. 500 - 1000mg per day; 1250 - 1500 if you take a calcium soft tab, and don't forget vitamin D.

BC may not be needed to regulate your periods, but it does regulate your hormones. Inflammation is the root cause of ovarian cysts because that's what causes the hormone imbalance in the first place. If you have enough cysts on your ovaries, it can make you double over in pain (personal experience). If a cyst ruptures, you will probably be curled up on the floor in pain for a couple of hours. If you want to concieve, ovarian cysts could keep you from being able. However, you should always use some form of birth control until you are ready.

I had a hysterectomy (including ovaries) for cysts, although I had other related problems. My last period lasted 42 days (that's six weeks). Although it's easier with laser surgery, you should give it your best effort to avoid that. Also, it can be difficult to regulate your hormones afterward.

You're probably on a low-fat high-carb diet, which can aggravate ovarian cysts because it causes inflammation throughout your body. Inflammation causes all kinds of health problems, including face break-outs. The typical American diet is not particularly healthy; there's too much sugar and carbs, not enough proteins and healthy fats. And if you don't already know how, learn to cook. Processed foods (i.e., frozen dinners, meals that come in a box) are not a healthy way to eat.

Read "The Perricone Prescription" or any one of Dr. Nicholas Perricone's other books. You should be able to find them at your public library or a used book store. He explains medical jargon very well and cites studies to prove what he says, and recommends vitamins, minerals and supplements to get you through this. Dr. Robert Atkins ("The Atkins Diet") is also good, but Perricone explains better and cites more studies.
