Could i have an Ovarian Cyst?

My period was late by about 1-2 weeks last month, which was really odd, considering i have very regular periods. I dont take any medication, i dont do drugs or smoke, i havent been under any stress, and i havent los or gained any weight. I had my doctor run both urine/blood prengnacy test to rule that out as well.

My period finally came and it was heavier and more painful than normal….

This morning (about 1 week before my next period), i had some deep sharp pain on my right side, where my ovaries are. It hurts when i move or stretch only. I also have some spotting when i wipe….

Could it be possible that i have a cyst? Considering pregnancy has been ruled out, and i havent been sexually active since the last pregnancy test. Would i cyst cause my period to have been late? And would it cause pain and spotting now? Did it rupture?

You’d be in serious pain if you had a ruptured cyst. Most of the time, women don’t have pain with cysts; they just go away after a while. I had pains a year ago that I thought was a cyst, but it turned out to be lower abdominal cramping from another condition (which, interestingly, also causes heavy painful periods).

Your doctor can give you anti-inflammatory meds if he/she thinks you’ve got a cyst, and that should help shrink it. Depending on your pain, you can either use a heating pad and OTC pain stuff, or you can see your doctor if you feel bad enough.
