To be perfectly honest, the only way to stop ovariana cysts is to go on the pill, or something like it. the pill stops you from ovulating, which allows you to 1) have a regular cycle, 2) less pain, 3) no cysts. I, like your sister, are prone to them and I have actually had to have one removed. (not the most pleasant thing in the world) which is why I am on the pill. cysts are normally non-cancerous, just painful. For the most part, they normally work themselves out of your system o their own(thsu the pain), however, in my case, the cysts dont always do that and thus my surgery. Your gynocologist would probably have recognized if you had a cyst, however only an ultrasound can determine if you have one for sure. probably not, but it couldnt hurt to ask your gynocologist about it next time you get a check up.
