ovarian cyst pain.. should i be concerned?

about five months ago i started getting really bad stomach aches. at first i thought it was just menstrual cramps, but the pain was so bad and so severe that i couldnt move and i felt like i was going to throw up. i was taken to the emergency room and checked for appendicitis, but it wasnt swollen. a few weeks later when the stomach aches kept happening, i got an ultrasound of my pelvic region and they found that i had a small cyst on my left ovary. since i have been on birth control, they said that the hormones that are in the pill could help make it smaller, so there was no need to be concerned at the time. a few days ago, i started getting the same stomach aches again. i had to pull over while driving because the pain was so bad. it hurts the most on the left side, which makes me concerned.. i dont know if i should bring it up to my doctor, or if im just overreacting? if anyone has any idea or has ever experienced anything like this before i would really appreciate hearing from you.

I don’t think that you are overreacting and I think it is something to talk to your doctor about. I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts 2 months ago after I went into emerg with pain on the right side of my abdomen. They ran test to rule out appendicitis and pregnancy (possibly ectopic). They never did an ultrasound so I guess they were just assuming that’s what is was. Once my period began (about a week later) the pain went away completely, so I though that was then end of it. Just a few days ago I started getting the same exact pain, but now it is on my left side and it is so painful and very similar to what you are talking about, so I am guessing that we have the same thing. I will be making a Drs appointment asap to talk about my options and make sure that they are making the right diagnosis (get them to run more tests).

It probably is not the cysts, I too was having pelvic pain and I had to get a pelvic ultrasound which showed a small 3mm cyst and my OBGYN said she does not worry about small cysts. But, endometriosis is a concern. I think you should go to your doc if something does not feel right, it is better to be safe then sorry.

You’ve got your point across much better than I at any time might, thanks!

  4. It’s pretty awesome having nutrition as my life. I always tell people when they ask me what kind of supplements to take. Start with the basics and get some whey protein as a body building supplement then if you want, try an EFA stack for weight loss. As always throw in a multivitamin.
