Ovarian Cyst?

I have been having lower abdominal pain recently which seems to be coming from my right side. I went to the gyno and she thinks I may have an ovarian cyst. She wants me to come back in a couple of weeks to get an ultra-sound if the pain is still there.
Anyone who has had an ovarian cyst, what were your symptoms? It feels almost like bad period cramps to me.
I had an ovarian cyst a couple years ago and ended up in the emergency room due to the pain. I had pains in the same area you are describing and yes it felt like PMS cramps X 5. I had a lower abdominal Cat Scan performed on me and thats what they determined it was. They go away on their own. It took about a week before I felt no pain. They gave me pain killers to take for the pain until it went away. I would definately get checked out, if it is bad enough it can cause damage if not treated.
i had a cyst on my ovary its very sore once u are treated for it u will be ok it might need to be removed though
Have them, had them and yes the pain is sometimes a stabbing pain, sometimes stomach bloating., even back pain. Mine are mostly hemmoraghic ovarian cysts. 99 % are benign, make sure you get the ultrasound to be sure. Take Advil or similar to alleviate pain and warm compresses like a heating pad or hot water bottle can help too. If they are functional cysts that can last a few cycles and disappear without intervention, sometimes they can grow quite large and need to be removed.

to add, cyst can burst, although painful usually not dangerous.
Some very valid points have been made here. I have done a fair amount of research on this particular topic, and its seems most people agree with you.
