Is there a birth control that doesn't make you gain weight?
Has anyone ever used or heard of Loestrin 24 Fe? My doctor put me on that pill for my ovarian cysts, so I’m not using it for actual birth control. The problem was that the low dose of estrogen in the pill caused me to retain water and gain weight. I was more bloated, my thighs got bigger, and my boobs got bigger too so I stopped taking it. Now that my ovarian cysts are gone, I want to get back on a birth control pill so my skin will be more clear. I’m looking for one with a low dose of estrogen which doesn’t make you gain weight. Also, it would be good if there aren’t too many risks and side effects. If anyone could help me that would be great! By the way, I’m just a teen so would it be unhealthy for me to take them if I don’t really need them? My doctor says its alright, but not the best thing to do.
I’m on Yaz right now and some people actually say they lose 5 pounds while going on it.. it made me gain like 2 pounds but it didnt matter cause it was alot in my boobs lol (size A to B!)
it works differently on everyone though and all have the risk of weight gain.
When I was a teen I used to use orth 7/7/7, and never gained a pound. No side effects at all. My doctor told me it was the most common birth control pill, (that was about 7 yrs ago). It cleared my acne and never had any problems with it.
A friend tried them, but it didn’t go well for her. She had all the side efects and got on a different pill. It all depends on your body.
Your doctor should be able to figure out which pill should be better for you. After all, thats why he is the one called the doctor.
I’ve been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about a year now. Although it’s serving its purpose as birth control, I really want to switch brands. I’ve never had trouble with my weight before, but I’ve had to go up a few pants sizes in the last year. I am pretty sure Loestrin is the culprit. Hearing you mention your thighs makes me feel so much better because I hate my thighs now! Time to change …
