im wondering if i should take my birth control pills?

the doctor just prescribed yaz for me because i have small ovarian cysts. also, in the hopes that it would regulate me, reduce cramping and reduce overgrowth of body hair.
but im concerned about taking yaz because i did some research on the internet and alot of people have complained about it.
also, i am finally starting to get fit. im losing weight and starting to gain muscle. i dont want to sabotage that by going on the pill. that is mostly my main concern.
and finally, if i was to go on yaz, what is the least amount of time i should take it? i dont really want to take it to be honest..

if you don’t want to take it, then don’t – but make sure your doctor knows and understands WHY you don’t want to take it.

as with any drug, there are going to be side effects that people will feel and complain about. The only way that you will know that the drug is right or wrong for you is if you take it. I know I didn’t have a good time on any birth control pills and refuse to use any type of hormones again (I tried 5 different kinds with Yasmin being the worst of all….and that’s pathetic for me to say because one other pill gave me suspected blood clots!) but I was only able to find that out through using them.

I am pretty sure that Yaz has a dieuretic in it, thus reducing weight gain (the weight gain that women get on the pill is not actually an increased number of fat cells but rather water retention) – I know that its sister drug, Yasmin had a dieuretic in it and it was WAY too strong for my body (and I was even told that it was a mild one!!).

I would probably give it a couple of months before deciding whether or not the pill is right for you. If after a couple of weeks and you are completely down in the dumps or having any other severe side effects, talk to your doctor immediately.
