Doctor suspects PCOS, how should I prepare myself?
Because of recent irregularity and rapid weight gain, my doctor suspects that I have PCOS. She drew some blood and I should get test results back in a few days. Three years ago, I went to the hospital for intense pain, and they found a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst on my right ovary – it was my first and only one to my knowledge. My period problems did not start until two years after that.
When I get my labs back, I’ll defintely ask my doctor these same questions, but I feel like I need to mentally prepare myself for having PCOS, and I was hoping that if you have it, you can share your story to give me insight into what I may be facing. My husband and I would like to have children someday – how would Polycystic ovaries affect this?
Again, I know I should be talking to my doctor, and I definitely will do that when I get my results. I am just looking for some personal experience.

You may need to take contraceptives in order to preserve the number of eggs in your ovaries. Women with PCOS sometimes do have trouble getting pregnant but usually succeed. Don’t worry too much. Your OBGYN or endocrinologist will guide you appropriately.
It’s a hard reality to face.
My sister-in-law has PCOS and has only been able to get pregnant once.
She later miscarried.
If you do get pregnant just avoid all stress, and try to kept a stable enviornment.
Another friend has gotten pregnant and carried.
Her daughter is now 8.
She got pregnant again and miscarried at 10 weeks.
It is hard.
Just lean on each other for support.
Good Luck & God Bless.
