Could it be Heart Problems?

Well to start out im obese (BMI of 36) (I recently gained weight fast 80 lbs in a year. no thyroid problems. went from 110 to 190) and have high cholesterol. Ive had it for about a year now and have not taken my zetia like im suppose to. I also have an ovarian cyst, Darkening of the skin on my neck (which isnt PCOS, the doctor told me), and chronic joint pains, especially my back and knees. Recently, Ive been getting pains in my left side of my chest. I can feel pressure when i touch it and often radiates down my left arm and back. Is it my breast growing from gaining weight or could it be heart problems? I’m only 19 also.
does heart problems run in the family? My dad he had the same thing when he was in college too. except he had a heart attack at 25.

Take your Zetia. The darkening of your neck can also be a sign of diabetes. The joint pain most likely is from your weight. If you can feel pain when you touch your chest it may be a chest wall muscle not your heart. The extra weight puts pressure on your lungs as well. I think your breasts are growing because of your weight as well. And yes heart problems do run in the family. That doesn’t mean that you have heart disease. It means you need to be tested to rule it out. Bottom line get back to the doctor. I wish you well.

Wow. Even though you are only 19 you are not too young to have a cardiac condition, especially since you have been non-compliant with your meds and you already have several known risk factors for heart disease. It is best to check with a doctor and soon! An EKG and other testing would be the only way to tell for sure. But FYI: CPR only works about 10% of the time. Don’t wait to have it checked out until it is too late.
