Could the ovarian cyst be what has been causing this pain???

Ok about 9 mths ago I started to get this pain in my groin area and lots of cramps in my lower stomach. I have the Mirena IUD also. Anyways the pain has been getting worse and worse like everyday allday and then last week I started to bleed clots. At my last CT scan they found a cyst on my ovary and it was about 2-4 cm. The pain is only brought on when standing or walking. I have had lots of ultrasounds and ct’s done and they finally found this. COuld the pain be from the cyst? I have felt nausea and all the symptoms above. If it was there before why wasn’t it found? What can be done now? Also my blood work showed elivated white count? PLEASE HELP. I have dr tomorrow and I am freaking out and I just don’t feel good. Also I have been having fevers off and on.
I have had the IUD for 2 yrs and the pains started 9 mths ago. Could that be it? If so why would it wait over a yr to start. TIA

There is no substitute for the doctor but I’ll share some info with you. There is a chance that your symptoms could be a side effect of the Mirena IUD – ironic since it is usually implanted to help with excessive menstrual bleeding and it’s known to reduce the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease as well. Side effects are cramps, back pain, nausea. You didn’t say how long you’ve had it. It’s only supposed to be in for 5 years.
An elevated white blood cell count signifies infection which would also explain the fever.
There can be a lot of explanations for pain in the pelvic area. A cyst could cause pain if it ruptures or twists around its blood supply. A miscarriage would cause the clots and pain (doesn’t sound like that’s the cause though). An ovary can twist and that would cause pain.
Make a list of all your symptoms and discuss your concerns with the doctor. Ask him/her if the IUD could be the problem.
    Here are some references.
    Good luck and God bless.

Calm down….take a deep breath. I could very well be the cyst. But you are going to have to let the Doc decide. You’ll be okay and get the problem corrected. Not to worry….it’s an everyday thing.

I once has an IUD and had to have it removed because of excessive bleed ing. Pain could be from either cyst or iud-you might have infection-you mentioned hi white blood count-go to a gyno asap.

Elevated white blood cells means your body if fighting an infection.

You can get an infection from the insertion of an IUD(non sanitary reasons). Also if you have multiple parteners or yoru partener having multiple partners. Its alot harder to treat an infection with an IUD. Cyst are very common with teh IUD but they usually desolve within the 1st 2-3 months. You also experience them with out the IUD periodically.

I would def talk this over with yoru DR. and tell them you think youmight ahve an infection. Due to having had US I woukd doubt that its moved the US would have picked it up
