i am waiting for an urgent scan to see what is going on but it is probably going to be monday before they can fit me in, i am in a lot of pain. i have been taking clomid which i think has triggered it off. is there any way i can speed up the process of getting a scan to diagnose a cyst? and what are the side effects and treatment that you have had?
thanks in advance
i went to the er doubled over in pain from an ovarian cyst. they did a scan right there. they figured out what it was and sent me on my way with a script for pain meds. i was put on birth control pills and that stopped them from coming. i went off the pill 2 years ago got pregnant had my daughter and since have not had one. i would just wait if i were you becuase the er is expensive. if you are in seriuos pain tho and your worried its always an option. just show uo there tell them u dont know whats going on but your in serious pain.
Is this pain ongoing every day?.
I recently had an Ovarian Cyst about a week before my menstrual period I would get Horrendous pain, nausea, black outs, dizziness. Then after two months of the pain it happened againe this time I started violently throwing up, pain was alot worse I found out that my Ovarian Cyst had ruptured.
The treatment for my Cyst was different because it ruptured but the nurse said if it didn’t rupture they may have had to remove it surgically, infact one of my friends just had hers removed surgically and has no side effects at all.
The only way to speed up the scan in my opinion would be to call them and tell them you are getting alot of pain, I was told that when your body ovulates it will cost the Cyst to squirm & Twist (hence why birth control lowers your chances of Cysts significantly)
Almost five years ago I started getting pain in my lower right side and then it went away. It felt like a weird cramp at first and randomly throughout the day it would come back hurting a little more. By dinnertime that night, I was curled up in a ball crying my eyes out and my boyfriend brought me to the hospital because I couldn’t drive. They did a bunch of tests including an US and it turns out I had a ruptured cyst on my ovary
If you are worried at all, go to the ER and they will do the needed tests. I normally don’t freak out about things, but the pain got so bad I just couldn’t help but go. They gave me Keflex to get rid of the bacteria and Demerol for the pain.
It was the Keflex that screwed up my BC and allowed me to conceive my son nine days after my trip to the hospital!
Good luck! Don’t hesitate to go to the ER if you are worried at all. I’m glad I did.
EDIT- after posting I realize the person above me had the same thing happen… once again, don’t be afraid to go get looked at it you are worried. I was sick to my stomach but never actually threw up and also got very dizzy.
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I had an Ovarian Cyst a year ago and it was the worst stomach pain that I have ever had (even worse than the contractions that I had during labor). I had to wait for a referral from Tricare before I could get things taken care of. The only advice I can give you is to go to the emergency room. Don’t tell them that you have an ovarian cyst. Just tell them you are having severe abdominal pain and they will most likely do a scan to diagnose the problem. Then you will have your scan taken care of. Just be sure and ask for a copy of the scan to take to your doctor. This is what I did and it finally got the ball rolling. I ended up having to have surgery to remove the cyst. I hope all turns out well for you!!!!
