yesterday i went to the doctor and she told me that i have a ovarian cyst on my right ovarie i just want to know how long will the pain last for cause it is bothering me and how to relieve the pain ?
I have been getting cysts on my ovaries for about 10 years now. Try to use a heating pad or a hot water bottle, and take 800mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours, that will help me. It depends on how big the cyst is to how long it will hurt, it can take anywhere from a few days to months for a cyst to go away. However if the cyst ruptures then it will hurt a lot more than it already does and it will take some time for your body to reabsorb the fluid. I had to have surgery last October because I had 2 the size of a golf balls on my right ovary and it was causing me so much pain I went to the hospital, they ended up causing ovarian torsion. If the pain becomes a lot worse you could always call your doctor and see if she will call you in a pain medication. Also, you know your body better than anyone, if the pain gets so bad and you think something is wrong then you are probably right. Go to the hospital just to make sure something isn’t seriously wrong.
The pain could last anywhere from a day to 3 months. Ovarian cysts are finicky adn never behave the same. It depends on what kind of cyst it is, if it ruptures, etc. As far as pain releive, try one of those rice heating pads…it can eas the cramping kind of pain. As for the shooting/stabbing pain, I woudl recommend talking to your doctor about a stronger pain medicine than over the counter drugs are. Even a small does can significantly help.
