I have had my period now for eight years and I used to be pretty irregular. Within the past two years, it has become more normal, with a few exceptions. I usually go around 35 days between each period, and my period usually lasts about 5 or 6 days.
In February, I started my period on the 15th and it lasted around 5 days. Then, in March, it came early. It came on March 2nd and lasted 6 days. And now I haven’t had a period since. I don’t know what is going on, and i know i’m not pregnant. I have never had sex before.
My twin sister has had problems with an ovarian cyst for the past two years. She has experienced pain with her cyst. One of her first symptoms was a very irregular cycle. I haven’t experienced any extreme pain, though. I have a slight (and i mean SLIGHT) pain in my left abdomen occasionally, but that is all. I’ve been experiencing ovulation pains for the last week or so. (Slight cramps, water retention, etc.) Should I be concerned?

I have been at home all week as my ovarian cyst has been giving me pain. I had an ultrasound done today, but unfortunately couldn’t get an appointment in with my doctor until next Tuesday. I was able to see my report with the nurse at the ultrasound, but of course she couldn’t answer any questions. The report stated that my cyst had resolved and that I had fluid in my tube, which may be related to my menstrual cycle. This is good news of course… I think I can pinpoint why I have been in pain all week. Perhaps it was this week that my cyst ruptured/resolved itself since I had pain since Tuesday this week. My question is: how long after a cyst is resolved do most people experience pain? The symptoms I had with the cyst haven’t really gone away. I get sore from moving, sitting too long, and pretty much anything that involves the muscles in the abdomen. I get the pain mostly on my left side (where my cyst was).
I’m just looking for some kind of feedback before Tuesday, maybe even questions I can ask my doctor…

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend the day that I got off my period (he "pulled out") then I had sex using condoms around the time of ovulation. My boyfriend noticed some liquid on the outside of the condom and to be safe we purchased emergency contraceptives. A little less than a week later I had some light spotting for a couple days. A week after that I began to experience dull pain in my lower left abdomen. I ignored the pain until one morning I woke up with extremely severe pain to the point that I could not move to get out of bed. This was on day 30. My cycles are usually 28-30 days. I’ve taken two pregnancy tests as a precaution. Both of which came out as negative. My mother said she experienced something similar when she had an ovarian cyst at age 29. Do you think this is an ovarian cyst or something else? Help is appreciated

Here are her symptoms. She had her tubes tied 7 years ago and as of last year she gained weight for know reason. She use to workout and quit b/c it was causing more weight gain. When she arches her back a hard bulge appears in her abdomen and it is sore all over it including the sides like a bruising pain she says under the skin. She missed 3 periods last year which was unusual,had a ct scan done in dec 08 and it showed several ovarian cysts. Complains of pain that comes and goes on the lower part of her body near pelvic area. I know this is the wrong category but I need to know if any of these symptoms are ones to worry about.

Can you still give birth if you have ovarian cysts? I recently found out that I have ovarian cysts, I have pain in my abdomen alot I just experienced 1 rupturing yesterday. I know birth control is a way to prevent cysts, but I would like to have a child.

Here’s the rundown to the point. My last period was Mar 10, 09. lasted the norm 4 to 5 days. It was due April 15, 09 and never showed. I took a pregnancy test a week after period was due, it was negative. Ive been having mild to sharp pains in my abdomen since 5 days before my expected period. It has been constant also accomodated with lower back pain, frequent urination, and pains in my breast. Ive been checked for endometriosis and ive had my thyroid checked, both test were fine. I have not gained weight nor been stressed. I usually have my cycle every 36 days. Ok I started bleeding 2 days ago which is 15 days past my expected period and it has stopped today. It was not a normal period. I only used a total of 4 pads within the two days. Im still having the abdominal pain and sharp breast pain. I also went to ER last night because of the bleeding and pain. They did a hpt and it was negative. The also did a pelvic exam which they say is normal for someone who was bleeding. Gave me some naproxin and sent me home and gave me numbers for gyno doctors. Its sat so unfortunatly there all closed. I guess its so frustrating because I have been regular for the past 2 yrs straight. Usually my bf and I use condoms or the pull out method but the one month we decide to use no form of birth control this happens. After my last period 3/10 we started having sex with him ejaculating inside me sometimes more than twice a week. And now this! Whats happening to my body?

My appendix ruptured almost a year ago and the year before that I had an intestinal blockage (the doctor thinks they are un-related!). Though I’m told everything is fine I am still quite swollen and I’ve gained about 30 pounds. Very little "fat to pinch" on abdomen - just a hard, swollen feeling. Colonoscopy 1 month post-op was normal. I recently started experiencing tenderness on the left side. My doctor suspected diverticulitis but blood tests revealed normal white count (no infection), elevated BUN ratio, and slight anemia. I’m awaiting a CT scan (new insurance pending) to rule out ovarian cysts. Bottom line is that my body is just not the same as I’ve lost my almost-flat tummy and what was a sculptured waistline. And of course - I’m concerned with the recent discomfort. I recently read about "twisted colon". I’m grasping for any possible explanation… anyone experience similar scenario?

I’m a 42 year old woman who has 7 major surgeries due to ovarian cysts and ectopic pregnancies. Over the past 2 years I have been hospitalized 8 times ….twice for bowel obstructions, once for a gallbladder attack that required having my gallbladder removed, twice for colon infections & the other admissions never turned up any sort of infections or obstructions but they blamed the vomiting, diarrhea & horrible abdominal pain to adhesion’s from past surgeries.
I have been dealing with constant loose to watery stools for close to two years. I’ve tried to alter my diet but regardless what I omit or add to my diet does not change my bowel movements.
Is it possible that these adhesion’s could actually be causing the loose & watery stools? Is there anything I can do on my own or medially to end this?
I’m a reasonably thin (5′6" 135 lbs) but my abdomen frequently is very distended (To the point that I actually look like I’m pregnant!!!) and I’m constantly dealing with terrible abdominal pain.
I would very much appreciate any suggestions or advice.
Thank you!

I’m turning 20 in a few days, and since I was 16 i’ve weighed right around 103. In the last 4 months ive gained 20 + pounds with no change in lifestyle. None of the weight has gone anywhere but my abdomen. It doesnt feel like fat deposits, my abdomen, all the way down to my pubic area is hard and distended, ive aquired about 5 inches. Ive taken numerous home pregnancy tests, so i know that isnt the case, but i’m worried its something serious, i would think that if it was just pure weight gain, it would show up other places as well as my abdomen? I’m not constipated or lactose intolerant, i do how ever have a history of ovarian cysts. Someone please offer some insight!

For the last 7 years I have had problems with Ovarian Cysts on my right ovary. I have multiple other symptoms as well such as dandruff, hair loss, weight gain in the abdomen, depression, insomnia, hot flashes, spotting after orgasm/intercourse/exercise, extreme thirst and urination, and dark patches on my knees, ankles, and wrists.
I had my hormones tested and a blood sugar test and everything came back fine. So, they sent me away.
Now the last few days I have had extreme pelvic pain, a very sore right ovary, a twisting shooting pain down my right leg, mixed bright red/dark brown spotting, and this intense pressure pressing down on my uterus or cervix.
I know it is another Ovarian Cyst because it felt just like this the previous times that I have had them. I’m just worried about the amount of pain that I am having.
Could these cysts be dangerous if they twist or rupture? Is there something I should be looking out for? And last but definitely not least, does anyone know of a way that I can relieve some of this pain?
Thanks!

According to the information at WebMd, symptoms include:
* Frequent urination, if a cyst is pressing against your bladder.
* Abdominal pain.
* Menstrual period changes.
* Weight gain.
I know I’m harboring a "fugitive" on my right side ovary– (I see the doctor again tomorrow for the ultrasound) but could the 6 lbs that won’t come off be because of this dang thing? My poor abdomen has been bloated for the last 5 months since the pain came… and I work out for an hour almost every day and have a strict healthy diet, I’ve been trying to lose it but the numbers don’t change.
My question is: Have any of you cyst-sufferers gained weight b/c of your cysts? What’s been your experience?
Thank you.

For the last month I’ve been feeling like i have a faint cramping in my abdomen. I’ve been taking the pill for 6 months and have had no problems with it. The cramping is not more than a 3 out of 10. My period is normal and nothing has changed as far as my diet. Am I experiencing side effects of a ovarian cyst?

For the first 6 years I had my period, everything was fine, I had no cramping. For the last year, my cramps have become increasingly worse, and have gotten to the point where I cannot go to work for 3 days a month (4 advil, warm baths, heating pads, NOTHING works) I went to the doctor and asked him if I should be concerned, and he said most women my age have ovarian cysts, and this can cause pain during menstruation, and it was nothing to worry about. Now, I have been having pain in between periods, and my boobs are super sore (NEVER happened before), I have cramping in my pelvic area, as well as very low abdomen, and have been getting EXTREMELY bloated lately for NO reason. I had a period where intercourse was very very painful (I almost went to the doctor for that, but then it improved) I also gained about 15lbs in the last couple of months, and I have been exercising more and eating a much healthier diet than any previous point in my life. (It is not "just muscle" I LOOK fatter.)
I am 100% positive I am not pregnant
I HATE my doctor. I am in canada, so it is very difficult to get a new doctor. Do you think I should go to the ER sometime, or will this probably just go away on it’s own?
