I know from hearing other people’s apendicitis stories that usually if it’s your appendix, it will hurt if you press and release in that area. Also I read that if you stand on your tip toes and then slam down on your heels it will hurt if it’s your appendix. I’ve done both of these things and there is no pain when I do that. Also, I do not have a fever, I have not been nauseated and the pain eases up when I stand up. Is it possible I have an ovarian cyst? Or coudl I really have appendicitis without the typical symptoms? I know these are questions for a doc but I’m just hoping to get some answers from some people who have experienced appendicitis and/or ovarian cysts. I am scared. Thank you.

I Have a quesiton about an Ovarian Cyst?

I was rushed to the emergency room a few months ago, the doctors thought it was my appendix, come to find out it was an ovarian cyst. The pain was horrible, The doctor said that when the cysts pasted, I would most likley get another one.My Question is:

When is the most likley time for another cyst to happen? a few months?, years?

Any Help is Great!

I was diagnosed with a 4.2 cm wide ovarian cyst about 3 weeks ago. They didn’t give me any pain relievers until a couple days later, which was Tylenol with Codeine to also help me sleep a little.
2 weeks later, it’s still causing major pain. I’ve missed 9 days of school because of it. We went back to the doctor and he said he would refer me to an OBGYN.
I’m only 14, and this is my first cyst. My mom and grandmother have had a series of cysts and tumors. My mom has endometriosis too. We basically have a lot of heredity with this.
What are the chances that this cyst will have to be removed surgically, and what are the chances that my OBGYN will do a pelvic exam tomorrow?

Plus, I’m a virgin, so will that, along with the pain of the cyst, make this experience [pelvic exam] painful and severely uncomfortable?
At first, they thought it was appendicitis, but my appendix is fine, so they outruled that with a CT Scan with injection and barium. That’s how they found the cyst.

about 3 weeks ago i had really bad pain in my lower back. I went to the doctor and they said i probably pulled the muscle. Now yesterday I went back for a pain right by my appendix and ovary and it turned out i ahd an ovarian cyst that had ruptured. Could this be the cause of my lower back pain even though my back pain started 3 weeks earlier? And would it also affect the back of my thighs too?

thx

and please give me serious answers
and im 13 and have been getting my period for like a year and 9 months

I have had pain, sometimes intense, sometimes mild achy pain, since 2/19/09. I went to the Immediate Care Center on Saturday and they thought it could be my appendix since it was on my right side. They did a CT scan and said I had an Ovarian Cyst (4.3cm in diameter) & it hurts like hell. I went to my OB/GYN on Monday and they said it would go away on its own & prescribed pain meds. They told me if I was still hurting in a few days to come back. I went back 5 days later & they again told me it would have to rupture on its own & prescribed me more pain meds. They told me to take 2 (7.5) Lortabs at a time & to keep them in my system until it ruptures. How long can this take? I really don’t want to keep taking this much pain medicine because it makes me nausous. I really don’t know what else to do & I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?!?! Any suggestions would help.

Could I have an ovarian cyst?

I’m 17 years of age and have had my perdiod since I was 11.
I’ve NEVER had it regular. It has always been 2-3 months late, never on time.

For years now I’ve always had the tenancy to use the restroom ALOT especially when going out with friends or long drives and when I get nervous.

I checked the symptoms and I have ALOT of them, especially the past 2 weeks [my period hasnt came since October.]

pressure, swelling, or pain in the abdomen
[I was freaked that it was appendicitis, but I've had these symptoms and went to the hospital and they said nothing was wrong and my appendix was perfectly fine.]

pelvic pain
[I feel little pains every so often by my ovaries]

dull ache in the lower back and thighs
[I actually just woke up with this and had some of it last night. I thought it was cause I sleep late]

problems passing urine completely
[not often, but sometimes]

pain during sex
[im not active]

weight gain
[I have gained a bit, my im still underwieght for my age]

pain during your period
[ALOT! Especially cramps omg!!]

abnormal bleeding
[no]

nausea or vomiting
[lots of nausea. I thought it was cause I slept late alot]

breast tenderness
[maybe cause my period is coming?]

you can say it’s cause my period is coming, but this ALWAYS happens. Im going to see a doctor soon, but everytime I do, he says nothing is wrong. They did an ultrasound on me a couple months ago and I heard them say they found something but arn’t sure what it was but knew it wasnt dangerous cause it was small, they said it was proably harden stool….could it be a cyst? and could that be the reason why I pee alot? lol [you have NO idea how sick I am of that =( we're going snowboarding in Feb with friends, but I don't want to go cause of the "pee" problem =( ] help! I;m SOOO tired of this!!

Is there anything organic I can try?

pelvic pain and ovarian cyst?

I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary every month according to the doctors it ruptures and regrows. Which cause great pain it makes me have flu symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea. But the cyst always ruptures the day of my period, and I usually can feel it growing a few weeks before my period which causes a lot of discomfort too. I have been to three gynecologists, emergency room (thought my appendix ruptured), and my family doctor they all say it can not be removed and its fine. The only suggestions they have for the pain is pain killers which i will NOT take on a monthly basis, and birth control which I cannot have because of a history of blood clots in my family. I have only had three external ultrasounds done on it. Basically for the last 7 years I have been having this problem and doctors only give me minimal information about it or what to do about it for that matter. I’m pretty scared I’m not going to be able to have children because of this cyst. And I know its more than just a cyst and I know there’s something else that can be done about it as opposed to me just being obnoxiously sick every month from this. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong and what to do about it.

My appendix ruptured almost a year ago and the year before that I had an intestinal blockage (the doctor thinks they are un-related!). Though I’m told everything is fine I am still quite swollen and I’ve gained about 30 pounds. Very little "fat to pinch" on abdomen - just a hard, swollen feeling. Colonoscopy 1 month post-op was normal. I recently started experiencing tenderness on the left side. My doctor suspected diverticulitis but blood tests revealed normal white count (no infection), elevated BUN ratio, and slight anemia. I’m awaiting a CT scan (new insurance pending) to rule out ovarian cysts. Bottom line is that my body is just not the same as I’ve lost my almost-flat tummy and what was a sculptured waistline. And of course - I’m concerned with the recent discomfort. I recently read about "twisted colon". I’m grasping for any possible explanation… anyone experience similar scenario?

Stomach pain, anyone have an idea?

Ok, first of all I have seen doctors about this, and they are baffled, so I decided to ask and see if anyone had anything similar. This is kinda long too.

It started about a year ago, I was getting really sharp pains in my stomach, its always in the same spot, about 4 inches to the right of my belly button. Sometimes the pain is so bad my back hurts in a spot directly opposite the pain in my stomach.

I went to the ER last July and had many tests run, they checked for Ovarian Cysts, Gallbladder stones, Hernia, Appendix and even ulcers. Everything came back negative and I was discharged with undiagnosed abdominal pain. I saw a doctor and was told it was most likely an ulcer that didn’t show up on the CT scan(peptic is what she said). So I took various medications over the next many months and had a very bland diet.

The pain would still come and go though it wasn’t to unbearable. After a year of taking the exprensive medication and not seeing a change I talked to my doctor and we decided to quit them. I was fine for 2 months. In the last two weeks the pain has come back, and its bad. Instead of only hurting when I exerted myself its every single day now. Without fail, in the early to late evening every day it starts to hurt, it gets progresivly worse until I go to bed, where lying down helps a bit but not much. The pain is gone by morning only to come back later that day. Sometimes it hurts after I eat, sometimes not. There seems to be little to no pattern and its driving me mad. A recent idea from the doc is an excess of stomach acid, though i would think if this was the case the pain would be more generalized rather that in one spot every time.

I am just confused, lost and in pain and I want it to stop. I don’t know what else it could be or what else to do. My husband is scared and I am going to see if my insurance will cover a gastroenteroligist. But I am seeing my regular doc later this week, and was hoping for some new ideas as to what this is.

Oh and the only thing I can think of that could have possibly triggered this renewed bout of pain is that the weather has gotten much cooler in the last 2 weeks. No lifestyle changes or anything else. Oh and hot showers seems to make the pain flare up.

Thanks if you actually read all this and can maybe shed a little light on all this.
