i think i might have one? well i was put on Yaz about 2 or 3 weeks ago, because my period wouldnt stop. before that i went to the GYN and she examined me, there seems to be nothing wrong so she gave me yaz. it worked fine until about a week ago. i started bleeding again, and still am. even while taking yaz. i’m also having lower abdominal pains, not normal cramping though. the bleeding is pretty heavy also. my gyn wont be back until monday so i am going to make an appointment then. would yaz stop bleeding from a cyst? does anybody know what could be wrong? i think it might be an ovarian cyst, because of the pain and everything else. i’m 15, but i dont think age has anything to do with it. thankyou to everyone who answers.

I have been at home all week as my ovarian cyst has been giving me pain. I had an ultrasound done today, but unfortunately couldn’t get an appointment in with my doctor until next Tuesday. I was able to see my report with the nurse at the ultrasound, but of course she couldn’t answer any questions. The report stated that my cyst had resolved and that I had fluid in my tube, which may be related to my menstrual cycle. This is good news of course… I think I can pinpoint why I have been in pain all week. Perhaps it was this week that my cyst ruptured/resolved itself since I had pain since Tuesday this week. My question is: how long after a cyst is resolved do most people experience pain? The symptoms I had with the cyst haven’t really gone away. I get sore from moving, sitting too long, and pretty much anything that involves the muscles in the abdomen. I get the pain mostly on my left side (where my cyst was).
I’m just looking for some kind of feedback before Tuesday, maybe even questions I can ask my doctor…

Our daughter, almost 24, has had some bleeding on and off for over a month. She takes Seasonique (3 month birth control) to control the symptoms of her endometriosis (diagnosed by laproscopy 4 years ago). She has taken it for almost 3 years and has been very pleased with the reduction in the amount of pain from the endometriosis.
Suddenly in January, pain on her left side increased greatly and the on and off bleeding began. She had an appointment with her OB/GYN who said it may have been due to the endometriosis. She managed to deal with the pain up until last week when, during the night, she has some take-your-breath-away pain on her left side which went on for a couple hours. 2 days later, she felt a "pop" on her left side and had a gush of heavy bleeding for 2 hours. The pain increased throughout the day until she eventually went to the emergency room as it was after hours at her OB/GYN and they couldn’t do anything to immediately see her. They weren’t able to do to an ultrasound at the ER (small town hospital) but scheduled one for 2 days later. The dr. who did an internal exam said the left side felt "full".
On Tuesday she had the ultrasound and everything in her ovaries and uterus looked normal. She saw her OB/GYN again today and she says it could have been a cyst that ruptured, or it could be a flare-up of endometriosis. The pain is sometimes sharp, and the rest of the time she says it feels like there is a curling iron burning inside, on the left side. Her dr. would like to give her a Lupron shot, if it is endometriosis, to throw her into menopause. This seems like an unwise thing to do if it was a ruptured cyst since Lupron won’t help with that and it’s not even clear if it really helps reduced endometriosis pain.
If you have had an ovarian cyst rupture, what were the symptoms before, during and after? How bad was the pain and how long did the pain last afterwards? If you have endometriosis, have you tried Lupron? Did it help?

No, I am not pregnant.
Usually I get my period around the 20th of every month. I have had my period since I was 11, six years now, and it has always been regular and consistent (give or take a couple of days).
For the past few months, I have been having really bad cramps and sharp pains on my side (ovaries) while on my period or ovulating, so my mom thinks I have ovarian cysts and scheduled an appointment with the gyno, which is in February. I haven’t had any cramping or anything yet this month, no spotting, but some light brown gooey discharge (looks like what I have for a couple days after my period finishes up) today. Its just that my period is almost a week later than it normally is.
For the past week, I have been exercising regularly and I changed my diet, but it was nothing too dramatic, so I don’t think that’s the problem.
What could be wrong?

Ok, so I visited my doctor in October and I was advised that I had Ovarian Cysts so I started doing tons of research and I discovered that Ovarian Cysts are stimulated by a poor diet. I started researching all of the things that I needed to change in my diet and I did it.
I lost 15 lbs in a 1.5 months (by mid December) and I’ve maintained my weight since then. Prior to changing my diet, I weighed 145 lbs and I now weigh 130 lbs and I’m 5′3". I never exercised and now I’m concerned that me loosing 15 lbs just by changing my diet alone is not normal! I feel healthy, but I’ve just never lost so much weight so quickly before and this concerns me. My body looks great. Everyone notices the change and I get a few compliments a day. But the fact that they point it out only increases my worry.
This is what I did:
I stopped eating red meat and I now only eat chicken, turkey or fish; I no longer eat whit rice (just brown rice or no rice); I eat fruits every morning; I only drink water or 100% juice; I eat a light lunch consisting of salad or soup; I take vitamins; I watch my portions; No more fried foods; No more junk or fast foods; I also cut dairy out of my diet (lactose intolerant anyway).
With this information, is it your honest opinion that one can loose 15 lbs in a month and a half just by changing to this diet with no exercise? I plan to go get a physical but while I wait for an appointment, I’d like some input to put my mind at ease!
Thank you all in advance!
Please note that my intention is not to loose weight! I gladly welcome this new body and I definitely plan on maintaining it however, loosing weight was never a goal of mine and as such, am not really interested in any weight loss programs. Thank you anyway!.

I have been suffering with ovarian cysts for about a year now with irregular periods since my period started. lately, I do not seem to have any periods until the cysts burst which is excruciating. I have been prescribes percocet and birth control pills (combined pill called zovia). I have been on the pill for 3 months now, starting after my last ovarian cyst rupture so it was supposed to be done with. I have been taking the pill regularly at the same time and this week have started having symptoms of a cyst. Now my right ovary is radiating in pain like a cyst is about to rupture.. same feeling I have gotten with every cyst before.
Has anyone else been on birth control who has this same problem? Did the pills work for you or did you continue to get cysts?
Anyone have any insight as to why I am still getting cysts if I am supposedly not ovulating? Thanks (ive tried google with no good hits and calling my dr. tomorrow to get an appointment sometime this week)
I’ve already had bloodwork which he said was alright except my biliruben levels were pretty low. He mentioned PCOS but said he wanted to see if the birth control helped first. He seemed pretty confident that the dose of birth control her gave me would be sufficient in stopping my ovulation. Has anyone had this happen to them before? Thanks.

Ok…so my OB/GYN put me on birth control to reduce the size of my ovarian cyst, which was HUGE! I was away at school and ran out of my 3 month supply and could not get back home to get up to the office to get another pack to hold me off until I went to my appointment. So I was on it for 3 months and have been off for a month. The cyst is still there and is very tender right now. Is it possible that I didn’t have my period this month because of the cyst and not having the birth control?
P.S. No possibility of pregnancy.
I saw her [my ob/gyn] and prescribed me with more birth control, but I have to wait until I get my period to start them. Is the delay caused because the egg was coming from the ovary with the cyst on it?
Advice on what to do please!
