I was looking into getting the Implanon implant birth control next week… Anyone have any personal experience with it? I have tried just about every birth control out there and discovered that they all make me horribly sick! :o( like vomiting, nausea, ALL that. I was on the Nuvaring(which i LOVED) but it messed with my nerves SOOO bad it felt like my skin was constantly crawling. I would like to know if it has made anyone sick, gain weight, etc.
BTW: i have a 2 year old and would not mind having another child. The main reason I have been on birth controls is because I get Severe ovarian cysts that cause my period to be VERY irregular and pain. I DO NOT want the IUD. Thanks.

Okay, so, i had gone to me doctor to get on birth control and talked to her about the fact, i haddent had my peirod in over five months, and last time i had it, it lasted two weeks. Ever since i gave birth about 5 years ago, my periods have been very irragular, sometimes i wouldnt have them for a month or three at a time, but this is the longest iv gone with our one. She did a pulvic exaim and told me, i did, in fact have several cyst on my ovarys, but they schedualed an ultrasound and drew blood just to make sure. But iv done alittle research on polycystic ovarian syndrome, and things just dont seem to add up, some of the Symptoms just dont match with out a known cause, such are facial hair, or alot of hair, i dont have any problems with that, never have, i have probably the normal amount of hair that any woman has….well not any, but i know i have normal hair growth, and my acne, i have it, like everyone else, but, its nothing that is OUT there, i have break out periods, but nothing a person my age (20) shouldnt have, its never been a major problem, my weight gain is due to the medications i take, i know that one for a fact the only time i ever had a major problem with dandruff was when i went swimming in a lake, and the water dryed my scalp out, after a few weeks, it was better, and iv not had problems since. I have had major infertility problems, iv been married almost two years and have yet to use a condom with him, i always thought it was him, but, im assuming its me now.Skin discolorations, im as pale as they come, i might be a tad pasty with my lack of sunlight, but nothing abnormal. High cholesterol levels, and blood pressure, both are excallent, doctors compliment me all the time on them, NEVER been a problem. And i saw one about depression, which, that cant be judge, i have three types of depression, i really couldnt tell if that was one of my symptoms. None the less, now maybe you can see my concern, can anyone tell me what i should be looking into?!

I had really bad cyst pain earlier this week unable to get out of bed, went to the hospital before that and they kept me on ultram. The thing is my pains nearly gone now is there anything my doctor can do for the follow up? I’m hoping for pain medication only. I seem fine now and don’t think i need surgery and since I’m ttc I cant use birth control. Any ideas?

also will getting on birth control make the pain from cysts go away?

okay so a few months ago i had this crazy pain in my stomach i went to the hospital, it was an ovarian cyst. they gave me pain med and birth control to take… ive been on it ever since.( just the birth control) … now im gettting the same pains its literally killing me.. idk whether or not to stick it out or get help.. nothing seems to help… my mom isnt too concerned so idk whether i should be.. i dont see how i can sleep. please helpp thankss
im 19, been taking birth control since january everyday… i did have an unltra sound the first time to make sure it went away, and it did..

I was kind of curious about it, my girlfriend’s doctor has told her since she was 14 that she has this, but she doesn’t match the symptoms that comes with it, she isn’t in any way over weight, she has no problems losing weight in fact she finds it hard to gain any, even pregnant she had problems gaining weight, and usually it causes women to not have their periods or for them to be very light (I did some research) But hers are heavy. And with PCOS, the cysts are usually small, and don’t cause a lot of pain. But hers aren’t small and cause her more pain then giving birth according to her and she had no drugs when having our daughter if that tells you anything.
My girlfriend’s symptoms are completely different.
1. She’s very tiny (5 ft. even never weighs over 110 lbs. even pregnant she was 138)
2. She doesn’t have acne at all her skin is always so beautiful.
3. Her periods are heavy and very irregular. (one can last a few days another a few weeks) we’ve been together almost two years and she’s been to the ER three times from losing too much blood due to her period.
4. She has the worst pains ever in her lower stomach, she says their like craps but much worse, I’ve set up many of nights with her trying to comfort her, and I hate hearing her cry over it.
5. They say women with PCOS have problems getting pregnant, birth control does nothing for preventing pregnancy with my girlfriend. She’s a very fertile little thing.

And these are just a few, the only problems I’ve noticed that she has are the cysts, and the high blood pressure, but even the blood pressure is a new symptom, she just got that one a couple of months ago yet she’s apperently had PCOS for the last 5 to 6 years if not longer, ever since she started her periods she says she’s had problems with them, her grandparents however thought she was making it up, so of course it went untreated until she was 14.

So really any info you can give on this would be a huge help.
I personally have a gut feeling that she doesn’t have this, especially since I know personally that her Dr. is a quack, but I could be wrong, after all I’m no Dr. myself, but even my Brother who is in medical school finds it fishy, my mother and sister who are each a nurse, and my uncle, who is and has been a Dr. for 23 years. They all say something doesn’t match up.

Are there any other types of cysts that cause the pains and the heavy bleeding? She has multiple cysts on each ovary, but they aren’t small and they cause many problems, and the Drs keep telling her that if they keep any worse they will have to remove her ovaries, at least one of them anyway, and they say that stress causes them to grow in size and get worse and that she shouldn’t stress out and they have even told her that if they get worse she could possibly die from it. Now I’m not Dr. but that sounds like a load of bulls*** to me, Any comments? Maybe even in the future this can help other women with the same problem.
No she doesn’t have any extra hair growth she has problems even getting her hair to grow longer, she’s been trying for a year to get it back the length it was when we met.

and she’s been on two different types of the bill, both have caused her to have seizures, and haven’t done any good for her periods or anything else for that matter, and the drs say there is only two types of birth control she can take for PCOS. which is why I came here. and like I said before, she has no problems getting pregnant, she had a micarriage once within the first two months we were together (long story stress caused that one) and then had our daughter, and recently we found out she was pregnant again, (stress again caused a miscarriage, along with a couple of accidents caused by an ex boyfriend.) Everything her Dr. says confuses me, so do the websites for the subject.

the nurse practitioner put me on metformin 500 because my insulin level was high, not low and I’ve had irregular periods since I was 11. but it didn’t regulate it and my insulin had lowered a great amount. The nurse couldn’t figure out what was wrong. But another nurse had given me some information on PCOS. so I did some research on it. and come to find out, I had every last symptom that was listed. So my mom asked the nurse to get me tested. they did an ultra sound to see if there were cyst or anything, both inside and out. they called a few days later and told me I had polycystic ovarian syndrome. ones busted or something ,I have cyst, and I have fluid on the lining. something like that. my mom was in a hurry and didn’t tell me where I could understand. Anyways, the nurse wants to put me on birth control, but isn’t that used for the same reason metformin is? and is one of the side effects for metformin weight gain? because my weight is always constantly up and down,. out of nowhere I’ll lose 10 pounds and then gain 13 back. But when I went to the doctor about one in a half weeks ago, came back and found out I gained 10 pounds in only a week and a couple of days. I’m pretty sure it was the medicine, I’ve never gained that much weight in a week or so. should I tell the nurse? or should I just start watching what I eat? so after I take the pill, what’s next? is that it? I’ll still be able to have children, right? it’ll just be harder for me to conceive? or is there more to it?

Okay, so here we go, i am on birth control, back in June i was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst which should have gone away by now, that bothered me a lot, but although i am on birth control i had unprotected sex on July 27th, ever since then it has scared me that maybe i could be pregnant, now, when i think about it it just makes me nausea’s. I was on a certain type of birth control and then i switched it to something else around the time a few days later was when i got my new birth control. I am not gaining any weight, don’t have weird cravings, i have frequent urination only on the days that i drink more then other days. My breasts aren’t tender but on some days you can see the veins just a little but then they go away. I have not a missed a single period but my birth control causes it to come later in my pink pills, like when i have only two left, and it lasts for 2 days and then by monday it is gone. But this birth control makes me feel weird because i have a sensitive feeling when you press on my stomach but not when i am laying down. I don’t know what to do, and don’t tell me to take a test because i can’t.

Ok, so last summer I stopped taking my birth control pills. My period didn’t start for over two months. Then I had to go to the ER because I had an ovarian cyst that had ruptured (it was my first one). So, stupidly I went back onto the pill. Then I stopped again about two months ago because they were making me gain a lot of weight. I still haven’t started and I’ve checked twice for pregnancy. Am I going to have another cyst rupture?? Please help, I don’t know what to do. Is there anything I can do to prevent it??

Hi, i am 23, and recently my doctor diagnosed that i have an ovarian cyst, and my hormone levels are abnormal. Apparently, i gained 12 lbs in 2 months, and i have been taking birth control (which is suppose to balance my hormones) for about a month, and during this duration, i have gained 4 lbs. So i have gained total of 16 lbs. i know weight gain is a side effect, but my doctor told me to keep taking the birthcontrol for 2 more months. But, will i keep gaining the weight, or will it go away on its on.Currently, i am 136, with a huge belly. Also my breast is very tender and painful, and they have gotten bigger since i have been taking the birth control. HELP!!!

i keep gettin ovarian cysts. motrin, advil or any of that does not help the pain. after my periods they still dont go away and i tried birth control too. i dont want to have laprascopic surgery again. what can i do to ease the pain or is there anything i can do to help myself?

I’m very sure that the pain I’m currently feeling is from ovarian cyst. I called my OB/GYN and they can’t get me in until the 16th of January. I was wondering if there was anything I can take for this annoying pain? I also would like some information on ovarian cyst. We want to work on trying to conceive in the next six months or so. Until then should I get on birth control if recommended to help with the cyst? I’m guessing being that I don’t have a regular cycle that its already going to be hard to get pregnant? So wouldn’t taking the birth control and then coming off make it harder? I know these are questions I should I ask the doctor and believe me I will but I just want a little info until then. I’m 17 & I’m starting to get more into learning about birth control & how it works. Well I know the basics, but I don’t know the little things. For example: can it really risk your chance of having breast cancer, getting ovarian cysts, gain more weight and increase breast size.

My main use for this would be to help clear my skin a little (it’s not terrible, but I’d like it to be a little better) & to control my irregular periods & lately my past 2 periods, i’ve had the worst cramps. I never use to get cramps. Aside from that, I do want to be safe if I when & if I have sex.

Also could you recommended some good birth control brands.

Hi I was just recently told with a CT Scan that I have an ovarian cyst the doctor said it was fairly large he said 5 sonograms I am only 19 and I had a baby August 27th also I haven’t had a period in 2 months I am not trying to get pregnant but took 2 at home pregnancy tests and took a urine pregnancy test at the hospital all were negative. I feel slight pain in my left abdomen but I also have a kidney infection, urinary tract infection and an infection from my cats. I was just curious should I be worried.. should I be cautious of this large ovarian cysts like not running around .. and there is nothing I can do.. I won’t be able to even talk to my OBGYN to monday but I am just worried it will burst I am not good with pain..

Also I heard birth control helps i have it but my obgyn told me not to take it until my period starts.. and could the cyst be the reason I am not having periods?

My friend is 28, she has had ovarian cysts since her early 20’s.
She is married with no children… yet. She has multiple, persistent cysts on both her ovaries. They never shrink or go away even with pills. She has frequent, like every 2wks, periods and severe cramping. Surgery is not an option. She does want children oneday.
What the best options for treating these cyst and retain her fertility? Any natural cures available. Please any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Birth control not an option anymore, tried and didn’t work
Her doctor isn’t very helpful or supportive, only prescribes meds for pain.
