also will getting on birth control make the pain from cysts go away?

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome help?

I was kind of curious about it, my girlfriend’s doctor has told her since she was 14 that she has this, but she doesn’t match the symptoms that comes with it, she isn’t in any way over weight, she has no problems losing weight in fact she finds it hard to gain any, even pregnant she had problems gaining weight, and usually it causes women to not have their periods or for them to be very light (I did some research) But hers are heavy. And with PCOS, the cysts are usually small, and don’t cause a lot of pain. But hers aren’t small and cause her more pain then giving birth according to her and she had no drugs when having our daughter if that tells you anything.
My girlfriend’s symptoms are completely different.
1. She’s very tiny (5 ft. even never weighs over 110 lbs. even pregnant she was 138)
2. She doesn’t have acne at all her skin is always so beautiful.
3. Her periods are heavy and very irregular. (one can last a few days another a few weeks) we’ve been together almost two years and she’s been to the ER three times from losing too much blood due to her period.
4. She has the worst pains ever in her lower stomach, she says their like craps but much worse, I’ve set up many of nights with her trying to comfort her, and I hate hearing her cry over it.
5. They say women with PCOS have problems getting pregnant, birth control does nothing for preventing pregnancy with my girlfriend. She’s a very fertile little thing.

And these are just a few, the only problems I’ve noticed that she has are the cysts, and the high blood pressure, but even the blood pressure is a new symptom, she just got that one a couple of months ago yet she’s apperently had PCOS for the last 5 to 6 years if not longer, ever since she started her periods she says she’s had problems with them, her grandparents however thought she was making it up, so of course it went untreated until she was 14.

So really any info you can give on this would be a huge help.
I personally have a gut feeling that she doesn’t have this, especially since I know personally that her Dr. is a quack, but I could be wrong, after all I’m no Dr. myself, but even my Brother who is in medical school finds it fishy, my mother and sister who are each a nurse, and my uncle, who is and has been a Dr. for 23 years. They all say something doesn’t match up.

Are there any other types of cysts that cause the pains and the heavy bleeding? She has multiple cysts on each ovary, but they aren’t small and they cause many problems, and the Drs keep telling her that if they keep any worse they will have to remove her ovaries, at least one of them anyway, and they say that stress causes them to grow in size and get worse and that she shouldn’t stress out and they have even told her that if they get worse she could possibly die from it. Now I’m not Dr. but that sounds like a load of bulls*** to me, Any comments? Maybe even in the future this can help other women with the same problem.
No she doesn’t have any extra hair growth she has problems even getting her hair to grow longer, she’s been trying for a year to get it back the length it was when we met.

and she’s been on two different types of the bill, both have caused her to have seizures, and haven’t done any good for her periods or anything else for that matter, and the drs say there is only two types of birth control she can take for PCOS. which is why I came here. and like I said before, she has no problems getting pregnant, she had a micarriage once within the first two months we were together (long story stress caused that one) and then had our daughter, and recently we found out she was pregnant again, (stress again caused a miscarriage, along with a couple of accidents caused by an ex boyfriend.) Everything her Dr. says confuses me, so do the websites for the subject.

Five months ago I went on bc pill but I didn’t like the side effects so I stopped it about two months ago. Since stopping it I feel really sick, im not sure if it’s just because my hormones are adjusting or because I have an ovarian cyst but its really starting to worry me.
Right after stopping bc I got all the symptoms I had when pregnant with my daughter (I’m not pregnant) things like sore breasts and nausea. I lost ten pounds in two weeks and have continued to loose weight. I currently weigh only 100 lbs which is way to low. I don’t have an appetite but I make myself eat a lot because I really don’t want to lose anymore weight. No matter how much I eat I just can’t seem to gain any weight and I keep losing slowly. I also have been really tired and just don’t have any energy to do anything, I usually have a really good memory but I seem to forget everything lately, I also keep getting really dizzy and lightheaded often. I have always gotten lightheaded when I stand to quick but it seems to happen all the time right now, even when sitting.I have been urinating alot too, it almost seems like im releasing more fluid than im taking in, and when I do go I get a strange cramp it seems like its from the pressure of emptying my bladder. I have also had alot of discharge since stopping the pill, I have to wear pads everyday. It feels like a period but it is clear and has no smell. I have alot of other strange symptoms too like constipation, loss of sex drive, back pain, and a weird taste in my mouth.
I went to the ER two days ago because I was having extreme pains in my lower left side. They did a CT scan and blood tests and told me I have a large ovarian cyst. I have always gotten cysts on my ovaries and sometimes they are painful and other times not as bad, but I have never had one hurt like this one. I haven’t been able to get out of bed for three days now, they usually only last about a day. I have an OB appointment tomorrow afternoon and plan to talk to them about everything, but it just seems like every time I go to the doctor they don’t take me seriously. I really feel like something is wrong but the blood tests from the ER came back good and the only thing the CT scan showed was the cyst.
I’m sorry this is so long but if anyone has any advice it would be really helpful, I just don’t want to go to the doctor tomorrow and have another person tell me nothing is wrong and its probably just hormones or stress. Its been really hard being sick for this long with a two year old to care for along with school and work. Thank you (:

About 2 nights ago, I am pretty sure an ovarian cyst ruptured. It was ridiculous pain. I had been havingsymptoms of cysts for about a week. Well, today I feel so ill. My abdomen is bloated. I am weak and shaky. Should I go to the ER or wait it out? Please someone respond.

What is the BEST birth control?

I am 20 years old, have a 9 month old son, and currently using Mirena. I want to get my Mirena removed because before, I never had cramps or a terrible/irregular period, and I have been having horrible cramps, bloatedness, and just general discomfort around "that time of the month"… While I enjoy not having a period at all, or having to remember to take a pill, my husband constantly complains the strings "poke" him during intercourse. I cant feel them but apparently it is causing him SERIOUS pain!! (sucks for him lol) But I was just going to at least research and look for other/better alternatives. Any suggestions?? I have taken Yasmine before, in high school to help keep ovarian cysts off, but it made me gain almost 20 lbs!!! I am 5′9 and 125 now, just got the baby weight off and REALLY not looking to gain it back!!!!

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Will I ever overcome problems from hysterectomy?

I had a hysterectomy in 97. I had my hysterectomy due to being pre-cancerous and also menustrating for 28 days each month for over a years time. Everything was removed except my right ovary. Since my surgery I have had significant weight gain, constant back and abdominal pain, and 9 yrs. later I still have no feeling where the scar is. Now I go back in for surgery once again in a few days to have my right overy removed and to have exploratory surgery due to all the scar tissue and other damage due to my hysterectomy. In the last 4 weeks I have been in so much pain, that at times it is unbearable. It is mainly in my lower abdomen and on the right side, but also continues to my left side and lower back. Sometimes it feels like labor pains. I was told that I had 6 cysts on my right ovary and that I have an 80% chance that this is ovarian cancer. I have had numerous tests done recently and alot of unexpected weight gain? Will my body?stomache ever get back into shape?

I have mild to servere pain in my ovaries due to the cysts I recently found I have. I feel it gets worse when I walk up stairs have sex or eat.

I got it after I gave birth to my daughter. I had a bad pregnancy and a hard 56 hr labor with a lot of complications, this being one of the after effects. I started gaining weight and the doctor did all kinds of test on me before finding out it was hypothyroid disease. Everytime I try to take my synthroid I end up stopping because it makes me bleed..like a period …all the time and a lot. My doctor said its because the med is trying to regulate through my body and it can take up to 6 weeks. Ive never taken it that long thoug because I dont want the constant bleeding..and I am trying to conceive…cant do that with all the bleeding. Thyroid disease effects your metabolism and hormones. Does this happen to anyone else on thryroid medications? Im 25 if that helps anyone. Also I have irregular periods due to ovarian cysts and just getting off the depo shot after 6 years. When I dont take my med I dont have regular periods but as soon as I take it I bleed within 2 days. Any thoughts?

I had my first postpartum period at 10 months, so heavy I had to go to the ER on doctor’s orders. Negative pregnancy test, no fibroids/cysts on ultrasound. That period lasted 8 days. On CD14, I started having a pinching feeling in my left ovary (not unbearable, but uncomfortable). It lasted a couple of days and was followed by brown spotting (when wiping only) on CD15.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s probably a cyst that developed since CD6, when I had an ultrasound, or if I am ovulating. I was irregular before my pregnancy, so I’m just trying to figure out what is going on with my body and if I should get another ultrasound or just go back on the pill as long as we didn’t accidentally get pregnant (had an uh-oh around that time).

ovarian cyst…?

So I’ve had an ovarian cyst on my right ovary and we found it less than a month ago. (they found it in a sono after a miscarriage) I schelduled a tubal ligation and since my cyst has been painful to get it removed. Well I was really bloated all the time and the cyst caused me pain. My surgery isn’t until June (there was no other openings) and the pain and all that went away for awhile. But now its back bloated and pain on my right side. Can cysts go back and forth like be big one week and go down, bach and forth with sizes? I don’t know how other to word it but it went away and is now back…

I will be having a 7cm cyst removed in a few weeks. I have looked at info online and saw that one of the many symptoms of having cysts is weight gain and having problems losing weight. My question is will I lose weight after the removal or will it be easier to lose? Any help would be great!

What do you think this is?

Here are the symptoms:
- abdominal pain (mainly discomfort)
- A diagnosis (that is now gone) of constipation
- Extreme fatigue
- Bloated
- Loss of appetite
- Unusual weight gain
- Legs tend to be very weak
- Dull and achy pain
- On sides below ribs
- Stomach area
- pelvic
- both sides and middle
- high theigh
- Lower back
-Tender to touch
- stomach + pelvic area
- Low grade fever - off and on

My blood tests came back fine. X-Ray’s showed that the constipation was gone but I still have the pain. Fever tends to go away for two days at the most, then come back. It hurts to go to the bathroom (straining makes it worse) (the pain is a feeling of fullness and pressure/dull and achy). I’m 13 and female. Ovarian Cancer/Cysts run in the family, Breast Cancer runs in the family (grandmother died from it), and I was born without 1 artery in the umbilical cord. They said I would have rectal problems (maybe) from that at this age. What do you suspect this is?
I already went to the doctors so don’t tell me to go there. The pain level (1 - 10) and 10 being the worst, it usually sits at about a 4-5. Sometimes a 6. Plus, it is not a thyroid problem, nor is it Celiac Disease. I think it might be my kidneys, but I’m not sure. That’s why I wanted your opinions.

What does ovarian cyst pain feel like?

I am concerned about this severe left side lower back and abdominal pain I keep experiencing. It comes every couple of weeks and lasts around 12 hours. It is agony. I am doubled up rolling on the floor and it feels like I am having one long continuous contraction. I had my third baby 5 months ago with just gas and air so I know what pain feels like!! I went to the hospital but they gave my a painkilling injection and told me to see my GP. I went to my GP who referred me back to the hospital for an ultrasound but I have been told I could be waiting weeks for that. When the pain eases I am left feeling battered and bruised internally and my lower abdomen is very tender to the touch. Could this be cysts?
