How can I lose weight NOW?
According to my doctor I’m not overweight but I’m not happy with my body. I’m and 20 year old female and I’m 5′4" and weigh about 150 lbs I’m a size 10 in juniors. I’d like to be a size 5 or smaller so I’d probably need to lose 30-40 lbs. In high school I was in marching band so I was always active and I was about a size 6-7 but when I was 17 I had a 15.5lb ovarian cyst and had major surgery. I wasn’t allowed to be physically active for 7 months and I gained a ton of weight mostly in my thighs but then I saw it start to slowly appear on my arms, and my stomach. I’ve tried so many workout videos but I don’t have the endurance for them. I’m changing my diet but I would really love some advice as to which exercises work. Keep in mind I’m starting over as a beginner and my ad muscles are so weak too many crunches or sit ups hurt, not burn. HURT.

Blood in urine and pain after running..?
I run every day, the maxium I run will be 45 minutes. For the past two months, everytime I run I experience intense pain in my lower right side, and after I am done with my run, i notice a good amount of blood in my urine. The blood only appears once after the run, but the pain stays for a few hours after.Nothing has changed in my diet, or amount of time I run. I am wondering if anyone can suggest what is casing this.
I also have a severe case of endometriosis and reoccuring ovarian cysts, all which have been on my right ovary.
My period is extremely light…..?
I am more or less asking this for my girlfriends sake… she tells me she is worried that her period is extremely light. Me being a guy am not sure of why this could be but she tells me she is afraid she may be pregnant. So we sat down and talked about it. We have not had sex since the end of February, about 2 days after her period ended. So to be cautious we use a condom, the birth control she is on and I pull out. I know these are not fail safe, but I personally don’t see a way of her getting pregnant, she also has a slim to no chance of getting pregnant due to having ovarian cysts. She had her period in March on time, nothing wrong as well. So it does not make sense to me that she could be pregnant but I she is worried, so I get worried. Does anyone know if this light period could be due to stress, or a change in her diet or anything else? I personally am not all that worried about being pregnant as I do not see it as being possible, but any insight would be great. Thanks!
Thanks, I wish it was that easy though lol. I tried having her relax last night haha. Thanks for the advice though.
What could be the source of my bloating?
So, I’ve given up the idea of being pregnant although I’ve really felt strange lately. AF visited this morning, so I’ve resigned myself to thinking there’s another reason. I’ve been excessively bloated for 4-6 weeks but my diet and exercise haven’t changed in the least. I have had numerous pregnancy symptoms, but all negative tests. I started cramping last night pretty bad and woke up to AF. Since I started on bc 4 years ago, I’ve not had cramps this bad with a cycle. Any opinions? I’ve thought possibly endometriosis or ovarian cysts, but a transvaginal ultrasound approximately 6 weeks ago showed nothing unusual.
Are you trying to get pregnant and suffer from PCOS?
I am very excited that after being after being diagnosed with PCOS, I didn’t think I would be able to have a baby, but then I got pregnant! I learned how to reverse the symptoms with the help of changing my diet and learning about insulin resistance. I started taking the Insulite PCOS system and shortly after I was pregnant. I have been trying to share this information with as many people as I can. I have suffered with PCOS for a long time, and I did not even knew I had it. I was always trying to treat my symptoms - overweight, pre-diabetic, ovarian cysts- singularly. When my OBGYN diagnosed with me PCOS, I felt as if a cloud had been lifted. Insulite is a very comprehensive program that has helped me change my lifestyle. If you or you know someone with PCOS, I highly recommend checking trying this out at: http://www.pcos.insulitelabs.com
why are my boobs growing? serious question.?
i know i asked this the other night, but didn’t get any good responses. if you have any idea, please help.
I am 27 years old and am NOT pregnant.(yes i have done pregnancy tests which came out negative and still getting periods) just in the last almost months my chest has gone from a 34dd to 36ddd. i have actually lost 10lbs in last month. i started eating a healthier diet and cut out the caffeine. they have also been sore and itchy (which i am sure is due to them growing) i have done the monthly exams and have not felt any lumps (thank goodness) any ideas? i want them to stop growing. i do have ovarian cysts, but i don’t think that would have anything to do with it.
no i am not on any type of birth control. i am suppose to take anti-depressants, but i have not taken them in a while, and that is not listed as a side effect anyways.
My period is almost a week late?
No, I am not pregnant.
Usually I get my period around the 20th of every month. I have had my period since I was 11, six years now, and it has always been regular and consistent (give or take a couple of days).
For the past few months, I have been having really bad cramps and sharp pains on my side (ovaries) while on my period or ovulating, so my mom thinks I have ovarian cysts and scheduled an appointment with the gyno, which is in February. I haven’t had any cramping or anything yet this month, no spotting, but some light brown gooey discharge (looks like what I have for a couple days after my period finishes up) today. Its just that my period is almost a week later than it normally is.
For the past week, I have been exercising regularly and I changed my diet, but it was nothing too dramatic, so I don’t think that’s the problem.
What could be wrong?
i just found out i have polycystic ovarian syndrome and i was wondering instead of taking drugs and birth?
control what kind of things could i do to get the cysts completly gone naturally? also when you change your diet how do you know officially that they are dissolving? please help this is very important!
Can adhesion’s be causing my chronic loose stools?
I’m a 42 year old woman who has 7 major surgeries due to ovarian cysts and ectopic pregnancies. Over the past 2 years I have been hospitalized 8 times ….twice for bowel obstructions, once for a gallbladder attack that required having my gallbladder removed, twice for colon infections & the other admissions never turned up any sort of infections or obstructions but they blamed the vomiting, diarrhea & horrible abdominal pain to adhesion’s from past surgeries.
I have been dealing with constant loose to watery stools for close to two years. I’ve tried to alter my diet but regardless what I omit or add to my diet does not change my bowel movements.
Is it possible that these adhesion’s could actually be causing the loose & watery stools? Is there anything I can do on my own or medially to end this?
I’m a reasonably thin (5′6" 135 lbs) but my abdomen frequently is very distended (To the point that I actually look like I’m pregnant!!!) and I’m constantly dealing with terrible abdominal pain.
I would very much appreciate any suggestions or advice.
Thank you!
gaining weight with birth control?
i started birth control, and its really bothering me alot, ever since ive taken it, ive changed alot…im not myself, its been about 5 months or so since ive been on it, its making everything about me different.
heres why:
back in november/dec. 2007, i weighed about 135.
for my body structure and height, thats not so bad, but i was a bit chunky.
so when i started birth control, i was still about that, but i kept getting hungry more then usual, so i was gaining weight, so i was like grrr, so i went on a diet and lost about 15 pounds or so. so, i ran out of pills, and i wasnt on them for about 2 weeks, and i noticed my thighs and stomach were alot smaller, and pants fit me in ways i never thought could, and i was so happy! i was slimmer too….i didnt have the erdge to eat like a pig.
then i got some more pills, and ive been on them for a week again,
and im gaining weight again! and always hungry!!! this is ridiculous.
not only that, is my mood swings are worst then before, when i was off them i was relaxed alot more then now, and it seems like the littlest stupid things make me cry, i cry at least once a week, and i never did before.
the doctor told me this was supposed to help with pms and mood swings but its only making it so much worst,
the only reason i started birth control was because i have ovarian cysts and she said it would help with that, and it has alot, but the other side affects are affecting my life.
im also ALWAYS tired, no motivation, and i was never like that before, i have constant migraines like every other day,
and im always naseous.
I cant stop the birth control bc its working wonders for my cysts, but its making me wicked depressed.
Green stool..please help?
Ok so for the last 5 days i have had horrible diarreah it was brown at first, and now it is green…this is a little gross but for the past 2 days i have had the diarreah still but its green now, i havent had much change in my diet howevefr i have been having some problems with ovarian cyst that keep rupturing, and now i have been diagnosed with a hemmorhagic cyst…is this a coincidednce or is this a problem? my insurance doesnt start until the 1st of next month so if this sounds ok ill wait but if it sounds like an emergency then should i go to the ER???
I am having trouble understanding?
I don’t really have a question. I’m looking for another perspective or just your opinion.
A woman I work with (who doesn’t take very good care of herself-bad diet, smoker, no exercise, etc) has been in and out of the hospital recently. She had an ovarian cyst which ruptured causing extreme pain. She got it taken care of, but her doctor told her one of her larger cysts could have ruptured and caused many more problems. She said it was a "blessing"?!
Yesterday I was watching an interview with Kevin Everett, the Buffalo Bills player who suffered the spinal cord injury and is making a good recovery. He is just starting to walk on his own and can freely move his arms. Again, he said he has been "blessed" and he "thanks God" for his recovery and his life. Why? Isn’t the reason he is alive and walking because of the quick medical response and the huge advances science has made in the field of spinal cord injuries? I don’t get it.
When I get sick and a doctor cures me, I give credit to the doctor. I haven’t been ill for a long time, for which I credit a relatively healthy lifestyle. When I fractured my ankle years ago, I knew it was my fault for the way I landed while rebounding in basketball. When the ankle healed, I knew it was because of the medical advice/attention I received. I take blame when I am at fault and try to give credit where credit is due. Is it just me (and a few others)?
Linda, why do you assume I view everything "in the negative"? That’s a fairly bizarre statement. Negative things happen. People who say "well, it could have been worse" are kidding themselves and delusional. Of course it could have been worse! I could get sick at any point in time. I try to prevent it. How is that a negative thing?
Bourbon, I understand what you are saying, but that is generally not true. People have an easy time SAYING they will change (you know, the alcoholic who wakes up and promises to never drink again….), but people rarely change. I look beyond words to actions, which is where I have a hard time understanding why people simply pay lip service to their God. The woman I work with was going to talk more to me, but she was on her way out the door for her smoke break. Go figure. Kevin Everett got injured making a dangerous play in a dangerous sport. If he is able to fully recover quickly, what do you think he’ll do? I’m guessing play football. That’s what happens.
Again, for those of you who insist that "God spared" their lives…..would both people not have (more than likely) died without prompt medical attention? Would that be considered God not sparing their lives?
To the point of our medical advances being a "blessing", I see your point,b but that does not seem to me to be what the two people were referring to when they said they were blessed. Neither of them said anything about the blessing being the medical advances or the doctor’s care. They simply referenced God. You may view our technological advances as being allowed by God, I simply don’t see the point of that. Again, that’s just me.
Joseph, what was the miracle? Could you define that term? It seems that there is a perfectly rational explanation for both injuries and recoveries. I hardly consider that to be a miracle. I would think there would be many more Saints, according to the Catholic Church, if using medical techniques/treatments to help someone was considered a miracle.
Ecterbob (hi, by the way), I am with you until a point. You say you shouldn’t thank the insurance comany because they did not heal you. Agreed. The doctors and nurses did. Thank them. Why the need to take it any further? Isn’t that it. You were sick. The doctor helped you. Say thanks to the doctor and be grateful that you have good insurance to pay for it!
Padme, I’m not going to pretend. If I did, I might as well pretend invisible fairies had a hand in it.
Wilder, I think you need to seek a different doctor. I have never met one (not to say they aren’t out there) who couldn’t offer a reasonable explanation for why I was sick/injured.
As far as the insistence many of you have that "what’s the big deal, they just wanted to thank God for the ability and availability of their doctor’s and for the possibility of the treatment", neither person in my scenarios said anything to that affect. Again, they simply thanked God,. You are inferring what you want, but it is not necessaily true. They both had ample opportunity to express their gratitude to God for allowing/helping such things as their treatment, but neither did. They both stopped short of doing so.
Obviously I completely disagree with most of you, but I thank you for your input, as I do have a better understanding.
Laura, doctors and medical professionals know full well why those things occur. The chances of someone recovering from a spinal cord injury, such as that suffered by Everett, depend a great deal on the quickness of the response. It is well documented and known. Many medical professionals at the time of the incident explained this point. If he had been in a car wreck and sat there for half an hour before receiving treatment, his chances for recovery would have greatly diminished. He was hurt on a football field with medical professionals standing by. They knew immediately what the scenario was and were able to take the appropriate precautions within minutes to greatly increase his odds of recovery. I don’t think you give the medical community nearly enough credit.
Doctors understand a great deal (perhaps not everything) about transplant patients and whether they will "take to" a particular organ. The medical community, so far as I know, did not give up trying to understand and say "only God knows why this works/doesn’t work". They seek the answers and have gained a much greater understanding. the odds of a person having a successful transplant have greatly increased in the past several decades. Are you inplying God just decided to make them more successful recently?
Ecterbob…ture enough and simply put. Thanks!
Vittoria, right on point.
Barak, Young, again you are missing vital information. I picked the Kevin Everett story on purpose because doctors DID know exactly what it took to greatly increase his chances of a full recovery. Mny of you are quick to say "yeah, well some people don’t recover from those injuries". No kidding. That’s exactly the point. Some don’t recover AND THERE IS A MEDICAL EXPLANATION! Simply because Sportscenter kept repeating how he could have been paralyzed or that some doctors say "he may never walk again" does not play to the truth of the situation. Medical professionals explained the type of injury, what kind of treatment and how quickly the treatment would be needed in order to increase his odds of recovering. He got those things. It’s not some "medical mystery" beyond our comprehension.
Apaarently this is a large part of why I am an atheist. I seek answers and reasons for why things are. I am not content to see something, declare it miraculous, throw up my hands and thank God. These people should be glad the doctor’s did not do that, too. If the medical coommunity were to simply accept that some things are beyond their control and understanding, I can guarantee you one thing - Kevin Everett would not be walking today. It is only because of advances in medicine, years studying this type of injury, etc. that doctor’s knew what to do. Many of you thank God for the ability of doctors to understand such things. I do not (which is obviously where we differ) simply because I see no reason to.
Thanks again for all of the thoughtful answers.
