For about 3 to 4 days I’ve been having this pain on my lower abdomen, usually on the left side but from time to time it switches to the right. I can have the pain on my left side and with a matter of minutes it switches to the right. The first day I got the pain it was pretty bad but nothing unbearable. As the days have gone by the pain has been less and less and less frequent as well. I was thinking maybe it was because I was ovulating but I don’t really know when I begin to ovulate, according to this ovulation calculator it says :High fertility, begin significant fertility 11/25/09 and then it says ovulation end significant fertility 11/30/09. The pain started on the 25th but I don’t know what those dates mean or anything, I don’t know how to read the whole thing and I don’t remember ever having pain on my ovaries like this before due to ovulation. I’ve been having more discharge lately, it’s a white color. And I sometimes tend to get PMS symptoms 2 weeks early, so I thought maybe they are just cramps. I’ve also been feeling a bit nauseous. But this girl told me that it is an ovarian cyst. So from what I have described what does everybody think?
I’ve read on many websites that pain during ovulation is normal and that there is something called mittelschmerz, a German word that means “middle pain.”
Also I don’t know if this means anything but 3 almost 4 months ago I took a Plan B pill since I had an accident with my boyfriend, I know I’m not pregnant, I’ve taken 3 pregnancy test(took one today in the morning) all of them came out negative and I’ve had 2 blood test done also and my doctor didn’t tell me anything about being pregnant. I know that the pill can mess with your system so could this have some part in it as well? The pain that I got was somewhat similar to menstrual cramps, but the pain is pretty much non existent anymore, I only get mild pain at least twice a day, and the longest it last is 2 to 4 minutes.

I’ve had dull pain over the last week or so just under my tummy-button that comes and goes, had to go to the toilet maybe six times a day but no joy, and feeling pretty bloated and sick.Only problem is I’m due a period within about a day, and my local hospital has a habit of blaming any abdominal pain on menstrual cramps, and I really don’t want to go if I’m unsure.
Also, mom had a malignant ovarian cyst about 20 years ago, so is it genetic or runs in the family?

about five months ago i started getting really bad stomach aches. at first i thought it was just menstrual cramps, but the pain was so bad and so severe that i couldnt move and i felt like i was going to throw up. i was taken to the emergency room and checked for appendicitis, but it wasnt swollen. a few weeks later when the stomach aches kept happening, i got an ultrasound of my pelvic region and they found that i had a small cyst on my left ovary. since i have been on birth control, they said that the hormones that are in the pill could help make it smaller, so there was no need to be concerned at the time. a few days ago, i started getting the same stomach aches again. i had to pull over while driving because the pain was so bad. it hurts the most on the left side, which makes me concerned.. i dont know if i should bring it up to my doctor, or if im just overreacting? if anyone has any idea or has ever experienced anything like this before i would really appreciate hearing from you.

i found out last friday i had a cyst, i have had two weeks of pain and pg symptoms, turns out it was from the cyst. pain started sat night and went into early sunday morning. the pain was sharp side pains, and pinching pain in my ovaries. it got really bad and i was doubled over in pain crying and then it would settle down and get bad all over again. well then i got charley horse cramping in my abodmen and i was on the ground in tears and in fetal position i scared my roommate because i was crying and screaming kind of. so i went to the er,after a bunch of tests which showed nothing (they didnt do an ultra sound since i already had one which showed a cyst) she did a pelvic,i still had pain on the right side, when she pushed down it sent shooting charley horse pains up my side, it was determined that it had ruptured. im still getting sharp side pains, with some pinching pain. not nearly as bad, but still hurts, how long until it goes away? they said 2 days. never had this happen before.
when i went in the er there wasnt any bleeding, it said in my report (i work in the hosp and can get this) that i had calcifications in my pelvic area and had phleboliths which are like small blood clots, so i wonder if that is from the cyst. but the pain is still really bad. its all on the right side unless it is very heavy menstrual cramps. and its all that pinching pain and up the side of my right side and sometimes my back has the knife like stabbing pains up it too. er said they really couldnt do anything. the cyst ruptured here at my house, i didnt want to go sit in there for 8 hours espcially when i knew it was gonna rupture. this is day 4 after it happened early sunday morning. it was so intense yesterday at work i was in tears. i will make any apt with a gyne soon, but i cant handle another pelvic exam again right now. i guess maybe its because of the fluid or something in my body. i dont get the problems breathing at all. god i want my life to be normal again! thanks everyone

For the past five years, I’ve been experiencing pelvic pain similar to menstrual cramps (but worse) beginning the day after I ovulate and extending for the next two weeks until I begin my period (at which time regular menstrual cramps are actually a relief). The pain will come (very quickly) and go and may happen several times a day for two weeks or just a couple days within that time. It never happens before I ovulate or after I start my period.
It’s been getting worse and worse and I have to take Ibuprofen now to cope with it. I’m trying to figure out what it is. I thought for a long time that it was endometriosis, but I’m beginning to think that it could be ovarian cysts. A couple of months ago, the pain was almost nonexistent! I had just recently stopped eating all animal products and thought that had done the trick, but next month it was back and I was extremely discouraged.
I don’t want to go to the doctor for treatment because they will either want to do surgery, tell me to get on birth control, or tell me to keep taking painkillers. The pain disrupts my life (like waking me up in the middle of the night when I have to be up early the next day), but so does taking medicine because then I’m groggy and out of it and can’t function correctly.
Lately I’ve begun to think that perhaps the condition is being exacerbated by chocolate (and all caffeine products, but I don’t drink coffee). I haven’t eaten chocolate for the past few days and the cramps have been mild enough that I haven’t had to take any Ibuprofen. My mom has fibrocystic breast disease and can’t eat chocolate because the caffeine and tannins in it will inflame the cysts and cause her to be in extreme pain for days. I was wondering if it could do the same for ovarian cysts?
The information out there seems to just talk about sever pain during menstruation or mittelschmerz ovulation pain but nothing for pain that happens in the two intervening weeks. Has anyone else experience what I’ve described? Does anyone know anything about the link between ovarian cysts and chocolate or caffeine? Do my symptoms sound like endometriosis or ovarian cysts or something else? I would really like to find a natural treatment for this and I’m almost positive that it has something to do with diet. I love love love chocolate but I would give it up if it meant getting my life back two weeks out of five.
