Hi. I am very suspicious that I have an ovarian cyst. I had one a year ago and it disapeared. This time my symptoms are exactly the same. Irregualr periods, pain in breasts, acne….etc. Can a cyst cause pain in your sciatic nerve? I can’t sleep at night because its so uncomfortable. The pain is mostly in my rear (right side)

I had my first period when I was 11 years old and it was regular for one year. Between ages 12 and 17 it was irregular with periods every 1 to 1.5 months. In high school it became more irregular and the doctor said it is normal during high school due to study stress. After high school the same problem existed till now. I am 27 years old and I still have periods every 2 to 3 months and sometimes it is more. I used pills before and they work but I gain weight (not from eating) and sometimes if I use them for more than two consecutive cycles I start having short breaths and get tired very quick. I have tried different medications but all will have side effects such as vomiting and dizziness. I had checked for hormones, ovarian cysts,..etc. and everything looks OK. My height=5’2” and my weight is 162 lb. I have a healthy diet and even though I gain weight when I do not use pills and do not have a period. I am trying to conceive now and would like to have a regular period. Please Help.

Got my appointment with some gyno specialist tomoro about some concerns with my ovaries (frightening talk!) Keep getting Pretty Large cysts on both my left and right ovary, abdominal pain, irregular and missed periods and weight gain (that sucks), Doctors trying to find the cause/treatment, got me on edge a little bit. Im almost engaged, wanting to start a family of my own (hes already got a couple troublemakers lol) kids are my life, ive worked with them and always wanted them. My mother couldnt have me and mirically concieved me through IVF (Invitro Fertilisation) (Test Tube Baby) only a couple years after the first ever test tube baby was born in 1986, im a miracle child! Ive been having nightmares ever since i had these things diagnosed by a doctor as ovarian cysts, although a common thing, mine are supposedly a large size and reccuring and bring a lot of pain with em every month, the words of a doctor haunting me in my sleep (we may birth control if youre lucky, if not simple surgery and worst case take out one of your ovaries), i havent slept in a couple days, just nervous. Me and my man have a long distance relationship; only while i finish my studies (i move back up in a few months) and im seeing him in 10 days but im just a little uptight, and I know the people on Yahoo answers can always give me a reassuring word of advice or a story lol fingers crossed!

I found out i had and ova cyst on my right ovary. I haven’t felt much pain from it. Even when I came on my period I never felt any pain (which is odd because my periods without cyst are usually painful).
But today I keep feeling these odd pains in my lower right abdominal and this really sharp pain (that I get when sitting down or moving) I get in the left lower area of my back. this pain in my back is what concerns me because I don’t remember this kind of pain with my last cyst and it feels like someone keeps cutting my back with a knife.
What shall I do?

OK, so here’s my situation, I am a 24 year old overall healthy female. Recently my dcotor prescribed Yaz birth control to me due to having ovarian cysts. I have never been on any type of birth control for fear of what most woman fear; weight gain, bigger boobs (well some woman anyway), headaches, nasuea, etc etc etc…all the bad side effects.
Every woman’s body is different…yes I know that. But I don’t know what to do. In the recent months I have been bothered by weird acne break outs constantly that will not clear up. As soon as some clear, I break out elsewhere (it’s rather annoying)! I didn’t have acne as an adolscent, why should I have it now? I’m aslo having to deal with abnormally oily/greasy hair, which is also very annoying and very inconvenient when I have to wash and blow dry my hair every single day (which I don’t because it’s inconvenient).
My doctor attributed these symptoms of hormonal imbalances as the primary cause and therefore prescribed Yaz.
I’ve always been anti-birth control pills, but am finding myself in desperation. I am currently a C cup and DON’T want to get bigger boobs.I’ve also suffered from migraines in the past and have heard that BC can trigger them…as for my period itself, well it’s quite manageable. I have normal periods and they don’t really bother me so taking BC is not really to "regulate them" for I already am. It would be more for the acne, greasy hair and of course, to avoid pregnancy since my hubby and I are not ready for that just yet.
Anyway sorry this is so long, but has anyone else been in this or a similar situation? If so what did you do or what would you suggest?
Thanks in advance!

Ok- maybe someone has some experience they can share. . I am 26 and had my 1st depo at age 15. I was on depo until i was 19, stopped, got on BC pills for 6 months, stopped to conceive my 1st child and after I had my daughter at age 20 - started taking depo again until January 2007. Am now on the BC pills again. Is it possible that the depo "paused" puberty for me? my breasts have started to grow?? and im not gaining weight any where else & am not pregnant…. have also had the ovarian cysts & some really bad back pain- and my periods came back right away ?? anybody been where i am now?

Your Question
Can someone inform me about ovarian cysts?
Hi, I’m hoping that someone who has had ovarian cysts, PCOS, or something related can provide me with some advice…
I didn’t get my period from June 14 through October 18. I went to my student health center (at my college) and had some tests done, ruled out pregnancy and thyroid abnormalities, but showed that I had low FSH levels. The nurse practitioner suggested I get tested for PCOS but since the most likely reason for my missed periods was my recent weight loss, I figured it would just be better to see if my period becomes regular after I worked to gain some weight and then decided whether to get the test done.
Well, I got my period in October, but then it hasn’t come in November. Instead, I’m getting these random, but very mild throbbing pains in my pelvis and thighs as well as persistent mild aches in my hands. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative so I’m going to get this checked out, but somehow the nurse’s conclusion (that I may have PCOS) doesn’t seem likely to me since I don’t fit any of the symptoms: Not obese (in fact I’m a little underweight), no abnormal hair growth or loss, nothing of that sort.
So I was just wondering if it is normal for women to have these kinds of problems. Are ovarian cysts common? What do they feel like?
I would really appreciate any advice you can give me.

I’ve had problems with ovarian cysts since I was 12 and right now I’m having a sort of an attack of pain in my stomach.
I now have all the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, including the shortness of breath. I’m always tired, My periods last soo long and are sooo heavy and painful, I’m sick to my stomach, I’m very weak, My stomach back and legs are all tender, my stomach is tender to touch, Ive gained a large amount of weight, I have a weird feeling of fullness in my uterus/bladder and I’m not pregnant, and I’ve been peeing like crazy
Is this a possibility?
Also, my mother had to have a hysterectomy because she had cancerous tumors on her uterus, so Idk if that has anything to do with it.
as of right now, I’m in incrediable discomfort and want to go to the ER or doctors now but noones home and I don’t feel safe driving.
please help,
is ovarian cancer a possibility ?

It been about two months, and I have had periods with cramping since the suspected conception, but I’ve noticed it’s kinda shorter. It will be heavy the first two days, then taper off the rest day or so. I’m worried because I have a blood filled ovarian cyst, and I don’t know if that bleeding can be mistaken for a period. Again, I do have normal period symptoms, such as cramps, bloating, and tender breasts- only around the time my period is starting. I feel like I’m gaining weight and becoming more fatigued, and the shorter period worries me.

I am 26yrs old, 5′7" tall and weigh 330 lbs! I’ve gained at least 100 lbs since I got married 5 years ago but I was always heavy. We are wanting to have children but haven’t been able to and doctors say it’s due to my weight. I have always had problems with my period and after I got married I was told I had a small ovarian cyst and was told it was normal. I was always given some kind of birth control to regulate my periods and to get rid of the cyst. Doctors suck and never seem to be able to fix me… I have been trying to lose weight since high school, but I just keep gaining it. I don’t think I have bad eating habits because I am scared of getting diabetes or high cholesterol because it runs in my family, so I am a bit more careful about what I eat. I had a physical done at the hospital to check everything and I am very healthy, the only problem is my weight and I don’t know what to do about it. Doctors just say eat healthy and exercise and I do but no results. I don’t even like food… I am rarely hungry and when I do eat, it’s not much. I am always feeling tired and without energy. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I’m just tired of being like this… I’m tired of the doctors that don’t tell me anything, I don’t know what to do, any ideas, or advice would help…
I don’t drink soda and don’t eat many sweets. I rarely eat pastas or processed foods because everything I buy must be kosher. I never eat out because I don’t like anything and eat very simple meals at home.

Here are her symptoms. She had her tubes tied 7 years ago and as of last year she gained weight for know reason. She use to workout and quit b/c it was causing more weight gain. When she arches her back a hard bulge appears in her abdomen and it is sore all over it including the sides like a bruising pain she says under the skin. She missed 3 periods last year which was unusual, had a ct scan done in dec 08 and it showed several ovarian cysts. Complains of pain that comes and goes on the lower part of her body near pelvic area. I know this is the wrong category but I need to know if any of these symptoms are ones to worry about.

I was reading a little about PCOS today and it kind of worried me, since I had some of the symptoms. I also had a sharp pain in my right arm and when I googled it a link about PCOS came up.
My symptom:
-Increased body hair.. I have dark hair so I’ve always had some, but lately it’s been a LOT.
-Ovarian cysts
-Lately my skin has been breaking out like crazy when normally my skin is pretty clear
-Weight gain
-I don’t use birth control and I’ve never been pregnant.. I know it’s silly to think I’m infertile without a proper test but it strikes me as quite odd that I’ve NEVER become pregnant while having unprotected sex
-My body has always been very hourglass. I always had a tiny waist. But the past 2 years I’ve developed more of a belly.
Should I consider seeing a doctor or gyno and discussing it with them?
Thanks in advanced
I’ve had my periods for about 7 years… They’re still not regular.

I have been on the Depo shot since July 2005, have no periods, slight weight gain, nipples sore. I go to bathroom often, toss and turn at night. I read what someone sent me and it may be from the depo. Either way, I have been wanting to switch from the shot to the pill. I just took it recently so my window is not open again til Feb. 2007. Has anyone switched from Depo to the pill before? Do you have to wait til your body cleans itself out(a period) a month…then start pill which takes a month to take its effect(use other protection until then). I should have done it sooner, but made the mistake by not switching yet. By the way, I recently found out a have a fairly large ovarian cyst. I think it may be related. I believe when I do make the switch…I’ll be better off for it. Thanks for any help someone has to offer!
