I have an ovarian cyst which causes me severe pain every few weeks. I’m having a second ultra sound next month to see if it’s getting bigger, smaller or is the same - and from there I will decide with my gynecologist as to whether or not I should have an operation to remove it.

My cyst is 6.5 by 4.6 by 4.3cm. If it ruptured one day, what should I do? My friend had one which was a lot smaller and when hers ruptured she couldn’t walk, eat or even move her hand! If I was to ever experience severe pain from this is it acceptable to call an ambulance and go to A&E?

I was wondering if people could tell me a little more about lap surgery.for possible endometriosis, (painful periods since 16)

I finally got somewhere with a doctor here in australia (kiwi from NZ) and the gyno put me on the waiting list (catergory 2) in the royal womans in melbourne.

Im wondering if anyone would know how long the waiting will be, also the recovery time for D & C, cp lap? and hypteroscopy?

My mother had a HUGE like 30cm by 25 cm or something ovarian cancerous cyst filled with 10ltrs of fluid…her sister, my aunty had breast cancer…and there mother died of cancer, lol so im also wondering with a couple of new symptoms of mine if i should mention them to my gyn at royal womans hospital.? They are feeling bloated and full, but still can eat ok. I am on my feet between 4 - 6 days a week with work. (customer service job) so im quiet active and fit, climbing up stairs and stuff quiet abit. Starting to feel a little pain on my side where i suppose my kidney would be, my lower back hurts all the time. I feel like ive gained weight but yet i havent in any other areas other than my stomach. Also breath whilst sitting down is a little bit more harder.

Im not worrying as it wont help me any but as there is like 3 generations of cancer on my mother side its like do i say something or just wait until i come up on the waiting list.

The gyn has put me on the short notice list as well, also he ticked a box that says " does the patient need to attend surgical pre admission clinic?" whats that? lol im also really tired of late, sleeping in, through my alarms, which are very loud to get me up lol

so yeah, couple of questions and maybe some stories about anyone who has been through it, tips and pointers etc would be great.

You did answer all my question i think i may have confused people, umm i have all the time a sore lower back, my stomach is extended all the time like im 5 months pregnant. Kidneys hurt 90% of the time like a dull ache, or pressure on them or something. Just started feeling OVER tired and sleeping in for the last 2 weeks now. I was losing alot of weight from my stomach and then it started bloating…2 weeks ago, apart from when i have my period of course… thank you again for your quick response, i got put on the list 05/02/09 so possibly if im lucky 05/06/09 supposidly lol? which sucks if its true as im off to NZ for 2 weeks from the 06/06/09

i am waiting for an urgent scan to see what is going on but it is probably going to be monday before they can fit me in, i am in a lot of pain. i have been taking clomid which i think has triggered it off. is there any way i can speed up the process of getting a scan to diagnose a cyst? and what are the side effects and treatment that you have had?

My husband and I in summer of 2006 decided to try to start a family. Shortly after I got a positive on my pregnancy test. A week later I started bleeding. I went to the doctor’s right away, after a series of tests, and ultrasounds they determined I had an ovarian cyst. I had what was called a "false positive" on my pregnancy test.

Two months later I had the cyst and my right ovary removed. My left ovary is still intact. I was put on the pill again. Throughout this whole process I have gained weight, and hated the way I felt when I was on the pill.

The doctors told us that we should have no problem conceiving. We have now been trying for over a year. As of today, I am about 8 weeks late with my period. (I have always had it like clock work, I’ve never missed my period). I’ve taken a few pregnancy tests and they have come up negative.

I was just wondering if anyone else has been through something similar. I’ll be seeing a doctor in the next few days.

Just to add, that 8 weeks really isn’t that long. I’m barley hitting the second missed period. Calling in to see a doctor, they won’t even see you if you haven’t missed at least one or two cycles. Everything I’ve researched and asked reveals that docs won’t even see you till you’re at least 6 weeks late. I’m two months late as of yesterday (2 months = 8 weeks)

Oftentimes they’ll tell you to wait. I also wanted to be sure I wasn’t going to start my period.

I am 20 years old, have a 9 month old son, and currently using Mirena. I want to get my Mirena removed because before, I never had cramps or a terrible/irregular period, and I have been having horrible cramps, bloatedness, and just general discomfort around "that time of the month"… While I enjoy not having a period at all, or having to remember to take a pill, my husband constantly complains the strings "poke" him during intercourse. I cant feel them but apparently it is causing him SERIOUS pain!! (sucks for him lol) But I was just going to at least research and look for other/better alternatives. Any suggestions?? I have taken Yasmine before, in high school to help keep ovarian cysts off, but it made me gain almost 20 lbs!!! I am 5′9 and 125 now, just got the baby weight off and REALLY not looking to gain it back!!!!

About a month and a half ago i had my appendix removed,and the doctors told me they discovered an ovarian cyst.I Then also got an infection after the surgery on my wound which was rather bad and had to have it drained.2weeks later I still carried on getting extremely bad pelvic pains and vomitting and had an ultra-sound and the nurse said it was still there.Now the doctors arent sure whether to let me have the surgery,even though i have extremely bad pelvic pain and its interupting with my life and i miss time off college.I’ve also gained weight because of it and missed my period and generally feel unwell because of it.I dont know what to do.

Has anyone else been in this position?
or Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do?

- Painfully sore breasts for about 2 weeks
- Erratic body temp (fluctuates btwn cold/hot)
- Disoriented, listless, slightly depressed
- 4 pound weight gain in a week (very unusual)
- Heightened sense of smell
- Persistent craving for tomatoes (and not much else)
- Ear ache & sinus pain
- Insomnia though tired

My cycle is frequently unpredictable due to an ovarian cyst and a home test has not been done yet.

Web searches produce uniformly generic results so feedback from medical pros or experienced moms would be great.

OK, so here’s my situation, I am a 24 year old overall healthy female. Recently my dcotor prescribed Yaz birth control to me due to having ovarian cysts. I have never been on any type of birth control for fear of what most woman fear; weight gain, bigger boobs (well some woman anyway), headaches, nasuea, etc etc etc…all the bad side effects.
Every woman’s body is different…yes I know that. But I don’t know what to do. In the recent months I have been bothered by weird acne break outs constantly that will not clear up. As soon as some clear, I break out elsewhere (it’s rather annoying)! I didn’t have acne as an adolscent, why should I have it now? I’m aslo having to deal with abnormally oily/greasy hair, which is also very annoying and very inconvenient when I have to wash and blow dry my hair every single day (which I don’t because it’s inconvenient).
My doctor attributed these symptoms of hormonal imbalances as the primary cause and therefore prescribed Yaz.
I’ve always been anti-birth control pills, but am finding myself in desperation. I am currently a C cup and DON’T want to get bigger boobs.I’ve also suffered from migraines in the past and have heard that BC can trigger them…as for my period itself, well it’s quite manageable. I have normal periods and they don’t really bother me so taking BC is not really to "regulate them" for I already am. It would be more for the acne, greasy hair and of course, to avoid pregnancy since my hubby and I are not ready for that just yet.

Anyway sorry this is so long, but has anyone else been in this or a similar situation? If so what did you do or what would you suggest?

I found out I have an ovarian cyst about 6 weeks ago. I had another ultrasound last week to see if it went away on its own and it hadn’t. Well I am supposed to go to the doctor tomorrow to find out what I can do to fix it.I’ve been having horrible pain at night, is there anyway to make the pain go away without medicine? (they gave me pain pills but I don’t like taking stuff like that) Also this all started when I went to the ER (severe pains and extremely excessive bleeding) while I was there the dr said something about being anemic but not bad enough to need a transfusion. Since it’s been about 7 more weeks with heavy bleeding do you think a transfusion could be needed? .. I wonder how I can bleed so much.. like how does my uterus produce that much blood so fast (like enough for a normal period within a day) Do you think I have something else wrong besides the cyst? Final issue- I am only 19 and I am hoping to be able to have children.. do you think I will have problems? I know I should ask a doctor but I want to know from people who have been through it and see what happened to them. Thanks in advance.
