Possible ovarian cysts or related problem?

Your Question
Can someone inform me about ovarian cysts?
Hi, I’m hoping that someone who has had ovarian cysts, PCOS, or something related can provide me with some advice…

I didn’t get my period from June 14 through October 18. I went to my student health center (at my college) and had some tests done, ruled out pregnancy and thyroid abnormalities, but showed that I had low FSH levels. The nurse practitioner suggested I get tested for PCOS but since the most likely reason for my missed periods was my recent weight loss, I figured it would just be better to see if my period becomes regular after I worked to gain some weight and then decided whether to get the test done.

Well, I got my period in October, but then it hasn’t come in November. Instead, I’m getting these random, but very mild throbbing pains in my pelvis and thighs as well as persistent mild aches in my hands. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative so I’m going to get this checked out, but somehow the nurse’s conclusion (that I may have PCOS) doesn’t seem likely to me since I don’t fit any of the symptoms: Not obese (in fact I’m a little underweight), no abnormal hair growth or loss, nothing of that sort.

So I was just wondering if it is normal for women to have these kinds of problems. Are ovarian cysts common? What do they feel like?

I would really appreciate any advice you can give me.

about 3 weeks ago i had really bad pain in my lower back. I went to the doctor and they said i probably pulled the muscle. Now yesterday I went back for a pain right by my appendix and ovary and it turned out i ahd an ovarian cyst that had ruptured. Could this be the cause of my lower back pain even though my back pain started 3 weeks earlier? And would it also affect the back of my thighs too?

thx

and please give me serious answers
and im 13 and have been getting my period for like a year and 9 months

ok, last month i got an ovarian cyst (that ruptured) and it was VERY painful! It was hurting my back, my tummy, and my thighs. Today there was such a bad pain in my thigh that I was limping. It really sucked it hurt so bad! Do you think this means i might be getting another cyst? possibly a bigger one than before?

thanks

Could I have an ovarian cyst?

I’m 17 years of age and have had my perdiod since I was 11.
I’ve NEVER had it regular. It has always been 2-3 months late, never on time.

For years now I’ve always had the tenancy to use the restroom ALOT especially when going out with friends or long drives and when I get nervous.

I checked the symptoms and I have ALOT of them, especially the past 2 weeks [my period hasnt came since October.]

pressure, swelling, or pain in the abdomen
[I was freaked that it was appendicitis, but I've had these symptoms and went to the hospital and they said nothing was wrong and my appendix was perfectly fine.]

pelvic pain
[I feel little pains every so often by my ovaries]

dull ache in the lower back and thighs
[I actually just woke up with this and had some of it last night. I thought it was cause I sleep late]

problems passing urine completely
[not often, but sometimes]

pain during sex
[im not active]

weight gain
[I have gained a bit, my im still underwieght for my age]

pain during your period
[ALOT! Especially cramps omg!!]

abnormal bleeding
[no]

nausea or vomiting
[lots of nausea. I thought it was cause I slept late alot]

breast tenderness
[maybe cause my period is coming?]

you can say it’s cause my period is coming, but this ALWAYS happens. Im going to see a doctor soon, but everytime I do, he says nothing is wrong. They did an ultrasound on me a couple months ago and I heard them say they found something but arn’t sure what it was but knew it wasnt dangerous cause it was small, they said it was proably harden stool….could it be a cyst? and could that be the reason why I pee alot? lol [you have NO idea how sick I am of that =( we're going snowboarding in Feb with friends, but I don't want to go cause of the "pee" problem =( ] help! I;m SOOO tired of this!!

Is there anything organic I can try?

please no bad answers this is serious to me and i know its gross

So, several months ago i went to the doctor and got diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. It hasn’t gone away and the amount of symptoms has increased alot. I went on birth control but it isn’t helping. i have the following symptoms:

pressure, fullness, or pain in the abdomen
dull ache in the lower back and thighs
problems passing urine completely
weight gain
painful menstrual periods and abnormal bleeding
nausea or vomiting
breast tenderness

and then it said
If you have these symptoms, get help right away:

pain with fever and vomiting
sudden, severe abdominal pain
faintness, dizziness, or weakness
rapid breathing

and i have everything but the rapid breathing. my problem is that my mom won’t let me go anywhere to get this checked out to see what i should do. so do you think maybe going to the school nurse would help me to get this checked out further? also, any advice on what i should do? (i’m in 9th grade)

that might sound like a dumb question but with my first child i dont remember what it was like when i first got pregnant..mainly because i didnt know untill i was two months..anyway..my mom said with her second she had MAJOR cramping. she said it was hard for her to walk..and i had the same thing happen to me this morning. well i had a rather large ovarian cyst when i was about 13 (now 20) that went away with birth control pills but i decided to look up ruptured ovarian cysts and these are the syptoms the website listed…

there is a very high chance that i could be pregnant but i just dont know..

I am freaking out, and crying too because you can not bear children, I have the irregular periods [sometimes they for a week but only for half of each day] and i have the acne [runs in family though] and sleep apnea because i sometimes just quit breathing when i am trying to go to sleep….and i do got all the increased hair on me but its not on the neck. and i used to have depression. i am pretty tiny though.

do u think i can have it?!

Not all women with PCOS share the same symptoms. These are some of the symptoms of PCOS:
* infrequent menstrual periods, no menstrual periods, and/or irregular bleeding
* infertility (not able to get pregnant) because of not ovulating
* increased hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes—a condition called hirsutism (HER-suh-tiz-um)
* ovarian cysts
* acne, oily skin, or dandruff
* weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist
* insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
* high cholesterol
* high blood pressure
* male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
* patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs
* skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area
* pelvic pain
* anxiety or depression due to appearance and/or infertility
* sleep apnea—excessive snoring and times when breathing stops while asleep
please help i am totally bummed out

gaining weight with birth control?

i started birth control, and its really bothering me alot, ever since ive taken it, ive changed alot…im not myself, its been about 5 months or so since ive been on it, its making everything about me different.

heres why:

back in november/dec. 2007, i weighed about 135.
for my body structure and height, thats not so bad, but i was a bit chunky.
so when i started birth control, i was still about that, but i kept getting hungry more then usual, so i was gaining weight, so i was like grrr, so i went on a diet and lost about 15 pounds or so. so, i ran out of pills, and i wasnt on them for about 2 weeks, and i noticed my thighs and stomach were alot smaller, and pants fit me in ways i never thought could, and i was so happy! i was slimmer too….i didnt have the erdge to eat like a pig.
then i got some more pills, and ive been on them for a week again,
and im gaining weight again! and always hungry!!! this is ridiculous.

not only that, is my mood swings are worst then before, when i was off them i was relaxed alot more then now, and it seems like the littlest stupid things make me cry, i cry at least once a week, and i never did before.

the doctor told me this was supposed to help with pms and mood swings but its only making it so much worst,

the only reason i started birth control was because i have ovarian cysts and she said it would help with that, and it has alot, but the other side affects are affecting my life.

im also ALWAYS tired, no motivation, and i was never like that before, i have constant migraines like every other day,
and im always naseous.

I cant stop the birth control bc its working wonders for my cysts, but its making me wicked depressed.
